This week the children have enjoyed gaining a deeper understanding of the festival Diwali. This is the biggest and the brightest of all Hindu festivals. It is the Festival of Lights: deep means "light" and avali "a row," or "a row of lights." Diwali is marked by four days of celebration, which literally illuminates the country with its brilliance and dazzles all with its joy. Following on from the children’s interest in this weeks activities and their interest in using different materials for paintings the children have had the opportunity to create their own fireworks using cardboard stamps. The children had the choice of colours and design to create their own firework displays.
