Had a very productive work at the office despite the snow. The whole office was out because of the snow so I had some fun and got some fun shots messing around in the office and .... then I left my camera there so I didn’t have the footage to edit when I got home. But it should be fun and it should be up soon.
Here’s a swing issue I see very often on the lesson tee. Lack of depth at the top and a poor hand path in transition which steepened the shaft early, followed by a late outward move of the hands and a stalled pivot to help him shallow late. You can visibly see his hand path move away from his body through impact. Because the damage was done earlier, he’s almost always going to struggle with low point and strike location issues. This move generally comes with hooks, blocks, shanks, thin shots, etc.. Fix the ROOT CAUSE and it’ll be much easier to control your impact interval 👍👍
There is a difference between a pretty stroke and a functional one. This would have made SAM puttlab very unhappy, yet the result was there. As instructors, we need to understand the links between our perceptions, our environment and our mechanics (called perception action coupling). A golfer is a combination of all of those.
There are two big things to consider when you’re creating content for an audience. 1) How do you structure the creation of your content to fit best into your schedule. 2) How convenient do you make consuming that content in a format that fits your audiences needs.
The hip hinge is the basis of a strong, athletic set-up for #golfers . By hinging properly, your #hips and torso will be in proper alignment for rotation.🏌️♂️Improving your hip hinge will not only benefit your swing, it will also allow for better and more effective movements in your workouts. 💪To develop a proper and stronger #hiphinge , follow the exercises below. 1️⃣ ASSISTED TOE TOUCHES: Place a yoga block or towel between your thighs. Keeping your hands and feet together, maintain pressure on the block as you push your hips back and try to touch your fingers to your toes. Stop when your knees start to bend. To come back up, bring your hips forward, keeping your glutes engaged until the end of the movement. 2️⃣ SINGLE LEG ROMANIAN DEADLIFT: Keeping a bar in contact with your foot for assistance, bend forward, extending your leg behind you. Keep your knee in contact with the bar. 3️⃣ RESISTED ROMANIAN DEADLIFT: Attach a resistance band around your hips. Create tension in the band, maintain a neutral spine and push your hips behind you. Bring your hips forward, keeping your glutes engaged at the end range. Slide your hands down the side of your leg to keep yourself from squatting. 4️⃣ LOADED ROMANIAN DEADLIFT: To strengthen your glutes as you hinge your hips, perform the movements exactly as in the resisted deadlift, but hold a barbell in front of your thighs. Hold the barbell just outside of your thighs and lower the weight down be pushing your hips back. Maintain a neutral spine throughout. Stand upright by bringing your hips forward, not by lifting your shoulders. ⛳️ (Performance Coach @gmdnyc11, Golf Pros @jfogolf and @ccast77)
If you want to work on shallowing your shaft and improve the sequence of your downswing, try hitting balls with your trail hand. Your goal should be to feel like you use your body’s rotation (not your hands and arms) to get you to and through impact. The shaft will shallow naturally if done correctly.
Also, make sure you resist the urge to roll the face open with the one handed backswing. Feeling that the face stays pointed at the ball for as long as possible on the takeaway can help this.

Great turn out today at Indian Springs for the Saturday class! 13 participants total! I started the class reviewing fundamentals of the chip shot then split the group. While half worked on technique and form the other half kept score in a chipping contest ,then rotated. And of course, prizes were involved😁
A simple but KEY piece to the puzzle in transition for all you golfers hitting HOOKS AND BLOCKS and/or struggling with your pivot. If you look at any professional golfer on TOUR, you’ll see their lead hip stay down in transition as they initiate the downswing. The pelvis maintains its inclination. The hips only level out (at the same height) roughly when the lead arm gets parallel to the ground in the downswing, not before. Lead hip low and around! That’ll make rotating significantly easier for you. Cheers 👊👍
We are looking for 6 keen golfers for our next golf getaway in late April this year!
Expect golf, food and fitness (designed to improve your golf) like you've never experienced before, all on the beautiful Sunshine Coast.
This is not your average 'golf getaway', this will be something else!#chef#golfprofessional#healthyeating#sunshinecoast#golf
My career as a Golf Professional so far has been nothing short of an adventure, and my time at Barefoot Resort & Golf was a big part of that. I am so grateful of the opportunity I was given to grow and learn at such a prestigious facility. That being said, it’s time to turn to the next chapter of my journey. Thursday marks my first day as Second Assistant Golf Professional at one of my favorite facilities on the Grand Strand; Pawleys Plantation Golf & Country Club. It’s an exciting opportunity to take on a little more responsibility, and see an entirely new type of operation. I am really excited to get started, and look to make the most of the next part of my adventure. #Golf#GolfProfessional#MyrtleBeach#JackNicklaus#PawleysIsland#PawleysPlantation
Going to start playing more over the next few months as I don’t want to lose touch with the game itself now that I’m coaching full time. A great lesson learnt from my coach @d.a.saunders who plays weekly and plays very well. Pretty happy with my swing here considering how little time I’ve put into it over the last few months. @andrew_campbell5 @d.a.saunders @mitchbrown1305 @samuel.d.phillips @simonhawkespga @herricombfurniture @scottisjolly @willflitcroft @seanpsomers @gilbo200989 @joshwhitehousegolf I’m coming to get you..
I am a big fan of taking on as much responsibility, and doing as many things in a job as you can regardless of what you’re getting paid to do what job. It’s your resume your building so add as much to it as you can. When you interview for that dreams job 5 years from now you will be glad you did. I talk more about this in my most recent podcast. The link to listen is in my profile.
Really good lower body work here by my dude Sean. You’ll notice that his pressure shifts laterally forward early in the downswing and his lead knee gets external. You can also see how his trail side doesn’t kick in right away. That creates the separation which allows him to rotate freely. If the trail knee fires too early in the downswing, you often end up with too much lateral bend and the spine starts to tilt away from the target. That would create all sorts of low point and contact issues. Great visual demonstration here 👍
