Reuben Kraut 2.0 💛🌿Fermenting veggies is one of my favorite things to do in the kitchen. This is my second batch of sauerkraut that incorporates the flavors of a Rueben sandwich. The first batch was good, but I'm adding more spices this time.
It's got a bunch of black pepper & caraway seeds, with smaller amounts of mustard seeds, clove, allspice, juniper, bay, ginger, onion, garlic, dill seeds, cardamom, star anise, & red chile flakes. There is also turmeric for some color.
In a couple weeks it will be ready to eat! I hope everyone had a great weekend!!
Simple Ingredient Caramel Dipping Sauce!!
1 cup coconut cream, 1 cup organic maple syrup, 3/4 cup Coconut Oil, 2 TBS Vanilla, Sea Salt to taste. THAT'S IT!! whip it all up and then heat in saucepan, whisking as you go until desired thickness. This stuff is tooooo good guys!
What is Kombucha? At the basic level it's a tea that's been fermented. You start with tea (black, green or both), add sugar, add kombucha from a previous batch or a store bought one and add a SCOBY (symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast). The bacteria and yeast eat the sugar and after a week or so of letting the beverage work its magic (aka chemistry) you end up with kombucha!
This drink has been made for over 2,000 years and it has soooooo many health benefits! It's thought that kombucha:
--> Aids in digestion
--> Boosts the immune system
--> Lowers inflammation
--> Contains antioxidants (which can protect the liver from toxins)
--> Helps reduce heart disease by raising HDL levels (high density lipoproteins collect fat in the body and bring it to the liver, which gets rid of it)
--> Lower anxiety
Besides being delicious, in my opinion anyway, kombucha is also loaded with probiotics. These are the good kind of bacteria that our gut loves. Probiotics help maintain a healthy digestion tract and strong immune system. If your gut is happy, then your body is happy.

Every time you take antibiotics you wipe out your immune fighting microbiome. Starting tomorrow, I’m giving the #WaterGallon Challenge a try - drink a gallon of water everyday for a week (maybe a month). @trilife_fitwife actually introduced me to it.
I drink a lot of water already, but not throughout the day. I could do better during the work day!
You’re supposed to drink half your body weight in ounces each day. I am probably a few cups short on any given day.
So, here’s to my trying to stay hydrated throughout the day. I encourage you to attempting it with me (or watching via my story). CHEERS!

Wow!!! Cleaning up my dressers and found a ton of my old clothes! I couldn't believe I used to wear these not too long ago. Size 34 down to 30. The number is whatever but what's more important is how I feel inside! Getting rid of all the toxins in my body both physically and mentally, then introducing the right ingredients back into it plus some exercise here and there has made this 36 year old feeling like I'm 26 Hahahah. I seriously never thought I'd be where I'm at today because I thought it was "normal" for our waist sizes to keep increasing as we get older. Boy was I wrong. Donation bag here it goes!
