Chicago Hot Dog Fest, Lincoln Park, my first time, though Chicago History Museum has put this on a few years. $5, in park near museum. I missed the talks but caught most of The Polkaholics set. Had a Chicago char dog and Goose Island IPA. (Longer post with different pics at @barsofchicago). Fun event, I should have been sooner given I'm trying to visit as many hot dog stands in Chicagoland as I can... 3rd pic is about the new baseball team starting play in a new stadium in Rosemont next year, Chicago Dogs. How was there not a minor league team with this name/logo sooner?! #chicago#lincolnpark#parks#chicagoparks#festivals#hotdogfest#chicagodogs
Hot Dog Fest in Lincoln Park last weekend; a festival put on by the Chicago History Museum for a few years, but I'd never gone before. And I'm someone trying to visit as many hot dog stands in Chicagoland, too. I paid $5 admission (goes to museum) and got an "I [Chicago flag star] Chi History" sticker. I missed the talks I was interested in (especially one on hot dog stands, by Bill Savage, who's also a bar/beer historian and former bartender) but was in time for most of The Polkaholics' set (on stage here). (I keep missing when they play walking distance from me at Independence Tap!) You paid to get "dog dollars" (2nd photo) to use at the many food booths. Many of the more intriguing ones had really long lines, so I went for a Chicago char dog (Chicago toppings, so of course no ketchup, but know what? I like a dog with ketchup and mustard at the ballpark) from a spot on Armitage in Lincoln Park. After getting my Goose Island IPA. Ok, I don't usually post when I get free stuff, but I paid for one beer and the guy gave me two nearly-full ones saying they were "underfilled." Cool, except I had to carry two cups and a hot dog and worried I looked...too enthusiastic about drinking, heh. I sat in the grass under a tree (my only complaint, not nearly enough shady spots at this event) for a while. #chicago#lincolnpark#parks#chicagoparks#festivals#hotdogfest#hotdogs#chicagohotdogs#gooseisland#daydrinking
In honor of The King of Hot Dogs, we hit up Hot Dog Fest this past Sunday. Definitely wasn't the same, but we know Scraps was with us! ❤️🌭❤️🌭 We know you were with us too, @carlosam1979 !! #hotdogfest#scrapington#scrappy
I played the ultimate tourist this past weekend in Chicago, my home away from home as a kid. Amidst Millennium Park views, perusing Michigan Ave., and amazing Architecture tours, we conquered @chicagomuseum's #HotDogFest and to be "frank," it was epic. This Chicago Char Dog needs to make its way down south, STAT.
Thank you to everyone who came out and supported us this past weekend at the #chicagohotdogfest ! We had a blast celebrating Chicago's most iconic food in beautiful Lincoln Park, complete with the city's best hot dog vendors, phenomenal music, and great speakers. We are excited to see everyone again next year! #hotdogfest#chicagohistorymuseum
ICYMI: Receive free entry to tonight's 8:30pm show with Mike Siegel of @TravelTalesPodcast when you show proof you attended the #ChicagoHotDogFest this weekend! $2 fee & 2 item minimum still apply. #HotDogFest
This weekend was rough. So I indulged in some much needed #selfcare by going to #HotDogFest with @savilebro; taking a rooftop trap yoga class by @rnbyoga with @itsjessrangel; indulging in a clay mask while meditating (which turned into a nap). Because joy is an act of resistance. And I'll be damned if I let them take my joy away. 💕
After what happened in #charlottesville yesterday, #hotdogfest was just what the soul ordered. People getting together, eating, listening to music, watching kids playing with each other unaware of any differences. A great day of peace (and hotdogs) gives hope. #chicagohistorymuseum
