(Burnt City Brewing, Lincoln Park.) I think I'm down to barely a dozen or so brewpubs/brewery tap rooms left to visit in Chicago (city limits) in 2017, a year I decided to visit them all. One of the North side ones I had left was @burntcitybeer, which I hadn't been to since the weekend in 2016 they reopened under this name, after several years as Atlas. A nod to an early Chicago brewery, but a trademark dispute with another craft brewery named Atlas necessitated the change. (Also of note, their production facility is in the former Jay's potato chip factory on the far South side.) But, ok, whoever does their Instagram has been liking a LOT of my posts this week (thanks!) and I admit, that nudged me to visit ASAP. After other plans fell through last night I ended up at the bar side (there's also a bowling alley) about an hour before closing. I had enough time for a Queen of Cogs Rosemary Apricot Pale Ale and Retrofit Radler, both quite tasty. Beers are available in 5 oz and 9/13/16 oz (depending on style) sizes. There were 14 on tap and like my recent Alulu visit, a very wide range of styles. I almost picked an imperial stout 5 oz for my second beer because I haven't had one all summer. There's food (I ate there once when it was Atlas), cocktails, wine, a few cans and bottles too. I like the decor of antique bottles and lit framed vintage ads. It was a quiet late weeknight visit and I pondered introducing myself in case whoever reads this site was there, but I felt dorky doing so. (I don't mind being recognized from IG, well, you'd have to know me from my other account where I put my photo...) Anyway, I need to make this a more frequent stop. It's steps away from Delilah's (where I went after for a PBR) and near Beermiscuous, all spots I want to visit more. #barsofchicago#chicagobreweries#illinoisbreweries#brewpubs#craftbeer#chicago#lincolnpark#signs#neon#neonsigns
A free weekend during wedding season is best used to spend time with the best of college friends.
We'll be around Lincoln Park, Chicago. So, where should we go and more importantly what should we eat? 🍕🌭🍦
