Living with anxiety can often feel like being on the outskirts of a fence looking inward to a reality you know exists but feel completely disconnected from. Irrational thoughts can be a regular occurrence, lack of sleep the norm and feelings of isolation due to an inability to convey such feelings to others without sounding completely crazy may be present.
I've personally experienced these feelings, often on a daily basis. Although I appear to be a strong person (I think), there are times where I succumb to moments of (crippling) self-doubt, as many of my close friends / counsellors will attest. I've always believed (possibly wrongly) that self-sustainability is the key to being successful, as most modern 'men' in society (especially the West) often are. However I've discovered (more-so recently) that a problem shared is truly a problem halved and letting my guard down has granted me more opportunities to connect than I ever knew possible. This does take a high degree of trust which isn't always easy to garner (as letting someone into your darkest thoughts and secrets often isn't) but once accepted can be truly liberating.
To conclude, my plea to anybody reading this who feels the same way is to say you're not alone! Although I may not wholeheartedly understand your particular situation, I have a vague understanding of it. So stay strong, feel what you may but continue to rise in power day by day (cheesy accidental rhyme for the win) 🙃 ♥️ 🙏🏾 @Kinguendo
