Strength block is going swimmingly (by swimmingly I mean I'm tired af) but I fricken love strength training. The preworkout pop tarts are also kinda cool too. With eating, I get in my fun food along with my "healthy" food. I like to live an 80/20 rule, with 80% of your diet being protein focused, nutrient dense, and good carbs with higher fiber. The other 20% is all the fun stuff you can squeeze in that you enjoy and if eaten pre/post workout, directly contribute to your training sessions. This is how I stay consistent and happy with myself and my training 🙌
For anyone that would be interested in learning more, I have a new FB page in the works that I will be posting daily workout and nutrition info on. Look for it starting next Monday, October 2nd! 🤗
I don't often buy sugary cereal, but when I do, I still get the "healthy" unhealthy option haha. We dont do synthetic dyes in this house. The CSPI (center for science in the public interest) stated in a report, "In addition to considerations of organ damage, cancer, birth defects, and allergic reactions, mixtures of dyes cause hyperactivity and other behavioral problems in some children.....because of those toxicological considerations, including carcinogenicity, hypersensitivity reactions, and behavioral effects, food dyes cannot be considered safe. The FDA should ban food dyes, which serve no purpose other than a cosmetic effect." I can't comprehend why a cosmetic effect is more important than our health! It would be great if they got banned, but for now we just choose to not buy those products. Which means there's a lot we don't buy because they are in everything! Drinks, foods, medications, shampoos, soaps, toothpaste. Everything you use every day. Say no to the chemicals!
..so I was asked today if I starve myself?! Ummm.. no!! I lost weight by simply learning how to fuel my body with amazing clean food.. yes I have 1 shake a day.. but we don’t live off just shakes.. we eat! And let me just say we eat about every 2 hours! Don’t believe me? Then it’s time for you to see it first hand join me on my journey to become a better version of yourself!!
Self Love is something I'm a big believer in although it is often a lot harder in practice and so this week I'm joining @iammelwells on her magical #selfloveweek with a whole host of other goddesses to take part in daily challenges to celebrate ourselves! Surprisingly or perhaps not, it's harder than you might think to compliment yourself on instagram. Today's challenge 'what do you love about yourself?'
Well after an entire day of thinking I settled on three things:
•I LOVE my creativity. That magical uncontrollable part of my brain & spirit has put me on an amazing path where I get to explore so many jobs, meet so many people and turn my hand to so many things that bring me joy. • My hair 💁🏼 Sometimes I hate that what people see first is 'blonde' but the vast majority of the time it gives me confidence and sass like nothing else so thanks mama for those amazing genes and @guychristiansalon for enhancing them 😉 •My hands. Without which I could not carry out any of my passions. You allow me to paint daily - praise the lord. You help me dance, run, illustrate, photograph and give out important complimentary facials! My whole world is thanks to how you guys (and my eyes) interpret it. So thanks for being the rough & ready, elegant when needed, hardworking grafters that you are. I promise to reward you with hand cream often.
What do you love & appreciate about yourself?
Veggies anyone?? I have slacked big time with my menu planning and meal prepping the last 2 weeks and I'm feeling it!
4:00 hits and all I want to do is take a nap 😴 Yep, all those carbs make for a great sleep aid 🙈😜 I need carbs...just not the cookie, chip, bread overload kind! 😂😂 I don't expect absolute perfection from myself. I know it's just about finding balance. Moderation in all things! I've enjoyed a few too many treats and now I need to pull in the reigns and get back on track.
Is planning out a healthy menu like a foreign language to you?
It doesn't have to be. It's a process of learning, trying new things, and finding a balance that works for YOU!
What is your favorite healthy meal?
So happy I discovered Young Living! We use these oils for so many things in our home. From immune support to a clean fresh smelling home, to support for overall wellness, scrapes and scratches, and everything in between! Sometimes I just pull an oil out to smell its goodness. If you are an oil user like me you know how it is when you apply them to your family and you find yourself inhaling from the bottle, even with the ones you don't necessarily favor the smell of, like Digize, not my favorite smell! It's just impossible to resist sticking it under my nose!
Stuffed portobello mushrooms! A delicious and easy appetizer to make! I sautéed some onions & peppers 🌶 and even added a little jalapeño for some spice. Salt, pepper, garlic, and a little cheese (if you like it). Bake in the oven for 20 minutes at 400 degrees F. And enjoy! 😁
I'm one of those people who has always believed if your not happy change it. I have only two things I am unhappy about ATM my weight and grief from an ex partner. Only one of these I can change but the other I can make better choices how I react to the situations he puts me in. He's no longer getting a rise out of me, neither are his friends, I am wasting no time on what they think of me, coz fact of the matter is, I'm NOT spiteful, I'm NOT ruining anyone's life, I just want to get on with mine. #betterchoices#quoteoftheday#myrant 🖕🏻
I'm working so hard to make this #monday unlike any other. NO - I NEVER workout, until today. 😂 yes, I do strive to make better choices in my life but honestly, I don't make the time to work out. TODAY what is day 1 for me… I did a little #yoga - here at home! I'm feeling my age and can totally tell that my body is not where it needs to be. I was super glad to be able to reach for something to naturally support the aches I was feeling. 😂 Insert that little bottle of #panaway - I may be struggling but that one little bottle made a huge difference. I also felt a little nauseous after working out, seriously… Insert more laughter here! I was scurrying around getting ready for my little tiny person to come so I grabbed a bottle of peppermint for a quick whiff… Done, all better! So today, I'm feeling some sense of accomplishment! Tomorrow will be a new day and the pain will likely be real! 😂
In other news: We had a play date this morning. Addie has a cold so I wanted to make sure the toys were clean. I sat in the floor while they played and wiped down each toy with Thieves Household Cleaner and without fear of the babies breathing toxic fumes or putting a toy in their mouths laden with harmful ingredients. It makes this grandmother super happy to provide clean toys that are also safe!
So, if you pondered, if you've even considered this path, I'd love to tell you more about these products that have changed the way we do things, that allow us to make choices without question, compromise or regret.
