"1972" is a collaborative series with artists @Rachelmonosov and @admire_kamduzenger highlighting the concept of marriage between a Jewish woman and an African man in an era where such companionship was unheard of.
" 36歳になった今は20代に比べて精神的にも落ち着き安定している。そして弁護士だったころよりも心が元気で幸せですね。今の仕事では、自分の素直な気持ちを大切に、新しい物事と進撃に向き合うことができる。毎月ギャラリー内で生まれる新しい世界をアーティストとともに創造できて、とても満足しています」。誰もが反対する突然の転職宣言からわずか数年で、未来へと繋がる確かな道筋を切り開いた若き成功者 "

Lots of love and talent last night at 'Birds of a feather fly together', the exciting solo exhibition by French artist @mehryllevisse at @catincatabacaru ✨
Levisse's working practice unites his experience in puppetry, stage performance, and dance, with themes of sexual identity, absurdity, and decadence. The meticulous sets he creates and installs are parodies of society, both critical and pathetic, manipulating the long-established codes of theater, and implementing the body as an object.
Birds of a feather fly together marks the artist's first solo show in #NY turning #catincatabacaru intimate gallery into an immersive environment with every surface covered in his kaleidoscopic wallpaper. #galleryopening#les#gallery#artlovers#lesgalleries#thingstodo#theoverart#thingstosee#nycart#nycevents#artist#artlovers

Join us tonight 6:30pm at the gallery for an Artist Talk with the #CTGcollective - an intimate conversation with Co-Founders Rachel Monosov, Justin Orvis Steimer and Catinca Tabacaru. They will discuss why the Collective was started in parallel to the gallery program, and how living and working around the globe has affected their individual practices and the communities they come into contact with. Of course, you will also hear tales of visits by bands of baboons, Shamans channeling ancestors, and Newfie fisherman's infinite generosity.

Installation at @outsiderartfair works by Artist @greg_haberny represented by @catincatabacaru gallery in NYC. His pottery is fired then broken and reconstructed, balanced and crafted with wires and put through kiln and fired again up to 7 times. His paintings are created with mixed mediums included gaff tape and reclaimed paint made from ashes of paintings he has burned. Very interesting work and creative process!

Can you create art with your phone?
Tamara Mendels uses her iPhone to practice and play out the final scenario before she works on the canvas. Using her finger to draw on the iPhone then using her body to make the paintings parallels to the world of digital media and the humanistic qualities of the handmade.

haunting monotype self portraits by Admire Kamudzengerere, while away during a residency his father passed and being unable to fly home he decided to turn to the mirror and find his father within his own image
So excited to announce that the gallery will present Barcelona-based artist, Yapci Ramos' exceptional exhibition, Perras y Putas. 'Perras y Putas is an ongoing intimate dialogue between the artist and prostitutes from different parts of the world. It is a living portrait -showing these women as they are, in their natural environment; the women behind the label “whore.” Ramos reveals them to us, taking a close look at each reality, without assumption or prejudice.' The exhibition debuted at Catinca Tabacaru Gallery in New York last year. This is the first time the show will be presented in Canada. February 2017.
Congrats Marie Salomé Peyronnel @epstie for curating "HYPOGEA", solo exhibition by French artist Radouan Zeghidour at @catincatabacaru. Show on view until May 15th. Don't miss it!
Image : Secret installation made with wood wax and wool in Paris, 2015
The 26 year-old Parisian artist’s practice has been characterized by the building and documenting of illicit installations in hidden locations: subway tunnels, catacombs and abandoned warehouses around Paris have served as his canvases.
I enjoyed this and other sculptures made partly from found objects by Zimbabwean artist TERRENCE MUSEKIWA on view as part of the "Zig Zag Zim" show at Catinca Tabacaru Gallery in the Lower East Side. The show runs until April 17. @catincatabacaru
