405 x 5 & 405 x 6 both all time PRs. Had no intention of hitting this today was planning on hitting 335-355 for sets of 8 but based on how I felt I called an audible and went for more of a heavy strength day.

This concept coincides with flexible non-linear periodization. The basic principle is that each week you have a set number of days for a specific lift - for myself I have a Strength Day (85-100%), Hypertrophy Day (60-80%) and a Power Day (35-55%)

A normal program would have you locked into doing your heavy day on a specific day, hypertrophy day on a specific day, etc.

With a flexible approach you can adjust on the fly what you are training based on how you feel on a given day. If you are supposed to bench heavy, but sleep wrong and wake up with an achy shoulder, instead of trying to push through it and potentially hurt yourself you can do a power day and work on form/explosion working with a lighter load, and save the heavy strength day for later in the week when you are feeling better.

Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research did a 16 week study comparing a flexible approach to a more traditional linear program and found that the group that used a flexible approach found greater strength gains in a 16 week period.

You can break-up the workout into however many days you can get into the gym, and use flexible non-linear periodization to choose which type of compound movement (strength/hypertrophy/power) you want to do on a given day.

Body weight 161 this morning... I was 140 a year ago.. but I also couldn't squat 265 lbs a year ago so I must say although I would like to lean out some I like thick Tina.. #powerlifting has done me well!

I'll try to make better decisions in the moment about food as well as putting more effort into packing my lunches... maybe ill do cardio once or twice a week.. maybe I won't...i probably won't... My form is better than its ever been and with that the plates will come. The point is that you get up, show up, and put in work that works for you. -
