Dogs lick to communicate their feelings; cats lick to clean themselves. But did you know that sometimes animals lick to soothe pain or to calm themselves? Licking could be symptomatic of anxiety or even a sign your dog or cat is experiencing pain you didn’t know about. Book a visit with Vetted to rule out any health complication or to have a diagnosis and treatment.
My brave frenchie warrior Oscar is home.
Yesterday he had a consultation with his vet oncologist and a surgical specialist. They are concerned by the significant growth of the tumor and its location. Both have reviewed Oscar's recent test results ( blood work, urine, x-rays, ct-scan, ultrasounds, MRI) and surgery was recommended. GME and tumor's location do pose additional surgical risk but it's the only option. The MCT has to be removed with wide and clean margins so Oscar has to go under a total penectomy followed by an urethrostomy. His vet has done some adjustments to his medication to help shrink the MCT, prior to surgery, scheduled for December 21.
It is a scary and difficult time for us. I'm trying to find the bright side in the darkness but today I am feeling completely devastated.😢 Thank you so much to those who have sent love to Oscar. Please, please, please, pray for him. If you don't believe in praying, please send him positive energy and keep him in your thoughts! We need a Christmas Miracle!!! We ♥️ You!

Yesterday we did 2 big group walks. The first one was with 4 new dogs all of which we were walking close to by the end and one that we calmly met. Only one was he a little whimpery with because it was high energy and liked to run and jump around. However by the end we were sitting calmly beside her hardly paying attention!
Later in the afternoon we went on another group walk with 5 new dogs! All of which we walked closely with and 3 of which we said hello to. We even had a puppy jump in his face and all he did was have a sniff! I am so proud of this progress and cannot wait to continue building his confidence!
We are thinking of trying tracking with Casey in the new year I think it will help build his confidence and give him and fun outdoor activity that also has some great mental stimulation. We're also hoping to do some actual obedience and recall classes. Maybe one day we will even be able to try a agility class!
