There was a couple who just pissed me off on our walk today.
They had 4 small dogs (2 Boston Terriers, a Chihuahua, and a Yorkie) alongside their daughter, who was terrified of Zoey and immediately started crying when she saw us. Despite us being the quiet ones (Zoey was reacting but wasn't as vocal as their yapping dogs) just trying to maneuver away from them all asap. They had plenty of room to move away from the path we were returning back on towards (we climbed up the hill from the bottom pathway, to return to the upper pathway). There was a neighborhood right behind them with an end street, and a sidewalk to at the very least, make and allow more room for us all. As they obviously had dogs that were reacting and a scared daughter. They decided to stand at the very entrance of the pathway from the sidewalk, leaving a very slim space for us to pass through. As I am holding Zoey back with my full strength passing them by, the husband is just standing there staring at us, allowing the 2 Boston's he was "holding onto", to remain at the end of their leashes barking and lunging towards us! Not a word nor effort to calm them down, nor pull them closer towards him! yes by all means, it's only the "big" dog that needs to be fully managed and controlled right? if one of their dogs came close enough and I couldn't stop Zoey at that point, guess who will be labeled the bad guys? UGH. I don't hate little dogs. I just hate most of their owners who don't make an effort to train them because "they're little". #apbt#americanpitbullterrier#realpitbull#pitbull#gamedog#bulldog#bullybreed#beastmode#shebeast#pitbulls#dog#hund#fitdogs#fitdogsofig#workingdogs#adba#pitbullsofinstagram#endbsl#dontbullymybreed#dogtraining#dogsofinstagram#instagramdogs#dogsofig#instadogs#doglovers#ilovemydog#dogsrule#dogoftheday
Maverick and I had our first training session tonight with Amanda. Getting a leash on Mav has always been a challenge! Getting him to not pull me and rip my arm out of socket was seriously impossible! I made the excuse that he's just a hyper breed...
After just 1 session Mav was walking comfortably without pulling me, he was sitting when I stopped, turning when I turned, not chasing or snapping at distractions AND we were even riding a bike together at the end of our first session!!!! This dog used to do back flips and throw a fit anytime I even attempted a walk.
Amanda was able to teach this stubborn husky who the real boss was and taught me the tools I needed to learn to be a good dog owner. I'm so excited that I can enjoy my walks or even a bike ride with my dog now. Maverick and I aren't done with our training yet, we have a lot of tools and tricks Amanda is going to help teach us in and around the house. But this transformation after just one session speaks for itself!!! I highly highly highly recommend her for any breed and whatever dog training needs you may have! We can't thank you enough @momapierce #dogtraining#huskytraining#bakersfielddogtraining#wholenewdog
Meet Doogie, the Labrador. He enrolled under our Courteous Canine Class more than a year ago; he was one of the challenging students in his class. We saw how his mom worked with him following our program to make Doogie what he is now - socialized, calm and fun to play with. We are now accepting enrollments for the next Courteous Canine Class designed for dogs 7 months and up with no reactivity issues. Send us a message at 0917839DOGS(3647) for details.
Cooler weather means more ranch training for Daisy. Her herding instincts are on overdrive and needs some serious schooling before she'll be safe off-leash. Since Foxy has been progressing so well I decided it was time for Daisy to catch up so that we can start hitting the trails together. Ensuring that Daisy is safe off-leash is my highest priority with her training, especially with animals and kids around. I was pleasantly surprised with how well she responded to our work today.
I will be building a blog website in the next few days, so stay tuned! 😊

We had an awesome lunch break today 😎 it was super hot but we did some work on a small playground on campus and made the most of it (since I missed almost half the day due to not being able to get up out of bed 🤕)
I also had one of those super proud handler moments 😭 During psych (which was an hour and a half), Jasmine slept the entire time with the occasional check in/stretch. At the end of our class as we were leaving, my psych professor said "Oh! You brought your dog today, I didn't see her." 😏 and that's honestly one of the best compliments a handler could receive 🙌🏼💯 There was even a point in class where she walked up to me and collected the test I took WITH JASMINE LAYING AT MY FEET 😂 she was so still and quiet she didn't even notice her, a lot of guests haven't noticed either and it makes me so proud.
All in all a good day 👌🏼
The pictures are a series of our day at our school. The first photo shows Jasmine putting her front paws on a bike-like contraption in a playground, her eyes squinted closed. The second photo shows her sitting on a platform, an open field visible in the background. The third photo shows Jasmine laying under a table in the cafeteria, looking up at the camera. The last photo shows Jasmine laying on her side at my feet receiving a belly rub

After months of hard work, failure, and more hard work, we finally had a breakthrough. Having a hyperactive dog in the family is an immense responsibility. Until you figure out how to get through to them, they can be very troublesome.
Maya never gives attention on the road. She chases cats, dogs, pulls on the leash, and takes on a guardian persona.
In this video, she can be seen off leash giving me full attention. And the secret sauce? A tennis ball!
