Ok this is grandmama right here. Childhood comfort food before bed. Milk with spices and butter. β˜•

Lately I have gotten surprised responses of confusion from people I know. 😦 "You" eat white rice???
"You" eat pasta???
"You" drink milk (as in cow)???
"You" use butter??? Yes! Within reason.

First they all need to be organic, non irradiated, free of mold, Non-Gmo, grass fed raw dairy, from small local farms when possible plus I have no gluten allergy. 
Next they are all recommended for my Ayurvedic constitution. I make adjustments to when I eat these foods, how, and how often. 
But NO I don't just eat greens and soup.

Adding warming ginger to the morning routine is a great way to fire up digestion in the morning, and help detoxify the body. 
I typically have this in the morning (and so do my kids) starting in the Fall..
🌱Grate about a teaspoon of fresh ginger, strain out juice in a small bowl, 🌱Add a few squeezes of lemon
🌱Stir in half teaspoon of honey
🌱A pinch of black pepper

Ok everyone the end of summer as we know it has come! Labor Day weekend is bitter sweet because we wrap up weekends of fun in the sun and try to readjust to our regular routines!πŸ˜’
So what does that mean for you?!
It can be stressful, overwhelming, and even exhausting to try to figure out how to meal prep, meal plan, and make a schedule that incorporates exercise when you are coming off of vacation mode. You may even have other priorities like getting the kids back to school, chauffeuring your kids around to different extracurricular activities, or maybe you are doing all of that and getting back into the swing of working full time again too. When I get caught up in the crazy I find that I tend to do what's easiest like hitting the drive thru, serving quick microwave meals, and becoming a couch potato at the end of the day! When most people hear the word "diet" they think significantly reducing their portions, not being able to enjoy a glass of wine or sweet treat, and how hungry they will be because they can't eat much.

Honestly, those were were my thoughts when I started this program and knew that if that was the case, it wouldn't be sustainable long term. I'd heard people say it was a "lifestyle change, not a diet" and it took me a little while to figure out what that meant.

I have been able to get into the best shape of my life and I didn't have to starve myself and give up my guilty pleasures to get there.

This is a typical breakfast for me:
- 1 serving of protein (2 eggs)
- 1 serving of fruit (berries)
- 1 carb (gluten free cinn raisin toast)

I've learned portion control and more about fueling my body with the proper amount of protein, veggie, fruits, carbs and healthy fats.

***Holiday grilling alternative to pork or beef*** Portobellos have high vitamin B content which helps with energy and reducing fatigue.  I did not always like portobello mushrooms until I tried them grilled and now I love them! 
The secret to my Portobello Sandwich Cup is to grill the portobello cap until it's almost charred.  This is a really good as an open-face sandwich that you can literally do in less than 15 minutes. 
I like to use traditional hummus from Whole Foods if I'm running short on time to make it from scratch. 
Try it this weekend!  It's a great option when grilling if like me, you don't want beef or pork.
