"One sees great things from the valleys, little things from the peaks." GKC. My rotator cuff injury has opened my eyes to so many things - on the physical and mental. It's been most humbling to retrain myself to focus on the smaller muscles and ensure the foundation is stable before over taxing the larger groups. I've lost mobility, range of motion and strength in my left shoulder. As you can see from this photo I cannot extend my arm straight (without pain). I'm holding a three pound weight. Retraining and strengthening the small cuff muscles that have been neglected. I haven't been able to do anything overhead for over a month and I was reluctant to do these 'boring' exercises. But as of late I've disciplined myself to follow the doctors orders in stretching and these necessary light weight exercises to rehab my arm. I can't say that I love it, but I'm doing what it takes to get to where I'm going. The attempt of a smile when you're in pain at the finish line never looks too great. Lol love it though. My goal was 2:10 And I was on point. Only did a short walk at water stations to drink and ran the whole way until I hit the hill. That's when my pacers slowly fade away from view and I just gave up trying to keep up with tingling toes and spasm thighs. Just didn't want to over push myself. But I was proud of myself for keeping up that far til the last mile without stopping to walk. Considering I have not trained at all. Definitely need to do better. But I know there's no way I can break my time at Princeton Half. Anyone wants a challenge at hills, should sign up for Princeton Half. So my goal for that is to run up every hill without walking. Did you know that a recent study in Sweden, found that consuming 45gram of chocolate found a higher concentration of antioxidants, reduced the risk of heart attacks and lowered levels of cholesterol. Fairly epic weekend to say the least. Competed in my very first Powerlifting Meet on Saturday, went 7 for 9 (1 true miss / 1 technical miss) and managed to come home with a Bronze Medal🏋🏻🥉

First time dead lifting since June 😳 kept it lighter and focused on being explosive since it’s been awhile and with my race so soon injury is not on my to do list 🙂 Paired these up with box jumps before juuust as a cherry on top to the explosive party. Good little superset to begin a workout! I did 4x8 on both!
Food today: meal 1- bone broth, protein shake and pumpkin seeds meal 2- 2 eggs, sausage and cheese heated until crispy and meal 3- super plain salad with just a little thousand island dressing. Feeling a little off today so this will probably be all I get in.
