Meal prepped veggies makes #postgymmeals soooooo easy! With everything already cooked (steamed veggies and grilled chicken!) all I did was throw this stuff in a hot skillet and tossed it in #traderjoes red curry sauce! No other seasonings needed. I was just having a conversation with one of my online clients earlier today who was still of the belief that eating after a certain time at night would mean she would store it all as fat. So she was very relieved to hear it doesn't work that way. Your body doesn't know time, just total calories at the end of the day. .

Let’s break the myth that you can’t have carbs after 6pm 😜

💫 First off here’s a reminder of what you need to hit your goal: 
Calorie deficit - to lose weight
Calorie surplus - to gain weight. 
Calorie maintenance - to maintain weight. .
So at the end of the day if you’re hitting your calorie goals, primarily from quality nitritious food (some fun too) that’s what matters most!

🥔 Second off there are some benefits to having some carbs at night: 
1 - Increase serotonin levels: Carbs trigger insulin which reduces amino acid levels so that tryptophan can cross the blood brain barrier & get converted to serotonin. When serotonin is elevated at night, it enables a restful sleep.

2 - Lowers stress levels: Carbs reduce cortisol levels aka the stress hormone so having them at night can help put you in more a relaxed state
.
3 - A 2011 study showed that over a 6 month period the group that ate carbs at dinner/night had greater weight loss, abdominal circumference, and body fat mass reductions

Now I’m not saying you should definitely eat your carbs at night! You should experiment, find what time feels right for you & as long as you’re hitting your calorie goals, you’re on the right path ❤️ Source:

Well, tonight was leftover night to clean out the fridge so nothing goes bad. Everybody had a little bit of something different throughout the week and this mama got a break from cooking. I decided to take the leftover meat from the lasagna that I had set aside. I heated it up, added some bacon, avocado, Greek yogurt and smidge of cheese. Sooooo good ❤️

🥒 For example: trade the empty calories from tortilla chips for cucumber slices. Try asking for these next time you’re at a Mexican restaurant—they go great with guacamole.

🥔 Or subbing a freshly baked potato, full of starch which your body easily digests, with a cooked and cooled baked potato which forms retrograded resistant starch (also called RS3). Just allowing the potato to cool to room temperature makes some of that starch indigestible and perfect food for your gut bacteria. In fact, after cooled, you can even reheat the potato, and the more times you reheat and cool the potato, the more resistant starch is formed.

🍔 And hummus is a FANTASTIC topping for a grass-fed beef burger, instead of ketchup (bonus points: skip the bun). Trust me!

@fitchickscook -  As a fitness community, I’ve noticed that we can get so obsessed about the amount of calories we eat or if we’re hitting our macros, so much that sometimes we forget WHY we eat.
We eat to nourish our bodies and to fill it with nutrients. After discovering that I have candida, I’ve changed my entire perspective on food even more. Oh WOW! These have become our new go-to after school snack, dide dish idea, & Party food! 
With a tangy/mild sauce, even the kids LOVE em'

makes 4 servings
Ingredients:

1 medium head cauliflower, broken into florets
2 Tbsps good quality olive oil, or avocado oil
4 Tbsps coconut aminos or light soy sauce
3 Tbsps organic tomato paste
2 Tbsps raw honey
1/2 Tbsp garlic salt
1 tsp onion powder
1/2 Tbsp smoked paprika
1 Tbsp apple cider vinegar

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 350 f. and line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large glass bowl add all ingredients except the cauliflower, then whisk to combine.
Toss in the cauliflower florets, making sure to coat them well.
Spread the cauliflower evenly, onto the prepared baking tray and bake for about 30 minutes, tossing once during cooking time, until they soften a bit and get crispy-brown on the sides.

Tasty Detox Tomato, Arugula and Avocado Salad

1 cup arugula
5-6 basil leaves
2 tomatoes
1 avocado
1 cucumber
1 green pepper (small one)
1 tbsp olive oil
salt
pepper
roasted sesame seeds (1-2 tbsp)
Wash all vegetables. If cucumber not organic, better peel it. Chop all vegetables, add to a bowl. Add olive oil, salt, pepper, then mix. Sprinkle roasted sesame seeds on top. Serve with whatever you like (goes with protein, bread, chickpeas, a cooked meal...pretty much anything). -

SERVES 4

Ingredients:

1/3 cup honey
1/4 cup soy sauce (I use reduced sodium)
1 Tablespoon minced garlic
optional: 1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger
1 lb medium uncooked shrimp, peeled & deveined1
2 teaspoons olive oil
optional: chopped green onion for garnish
Directions:

Whisk the honey, soy sauce, garlic, and ginger (if using) together in a medium bowl.
Place shrimp in a large zipped-top bag or tupperware. Pour 1/2 of the marinade mixture on top, give it all a shake or stir, then allow shrimp to marinate in the refrigerator for 15 minutes or for up to 8-12 hours. Cover and refrigerate the rest of the marinade for step 3. (Time-saving tip: while the shrimp is marinating, I steamed broccoli and microwaved some quick brown rice.)
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Place shrimp in the skillet. (Discard used marinade2.) Cook shrimp on one side until pink-- about 45 seconds-- then flip shrimp over. Pour in remaining marinade and cook it all until shrimp is cooked through, about 1 minute more.
Serve shrimp with cooked marinade sauce and a garnish of green onion. The sauce is excellent on brown rice and steamed veggies on the side.

Keep it in the fridge for about 3-4 days.

Hola lindo y #healthy #viernes 🙌🏻 Ayer les contaba en las historias que una de mis comidas favoritas en el mundo (no exagero) son las milanesas, pero que me da mucho remordimiento el que vayan fritas por toda la grasa que absorben 🙈 (ese lujo sólo me lo permito en mi cumpleaños y las hechas por mi mami 😜 )Así que ayer las prepare al horno y el resultado fue #delideli obviamente el sabor no es el mismo pero quedan bastante bien y son una gran opción cuando no quieres consumir tanta grasa, para hacerlas necesitas,
Ingredientes:
2 tazas de leche de almendras 
2 cucharadas de mostaza Dijon
1 ajo finamente picado 
Sal y pimienta al gusto 
500 gr de milanesa de res orgánica (puedes sustituir por berenjena cortada a lo largo)
Pan molido libre de gluten (yo utilice el de @pangabriel_glutenfree )
Método:
Precalentar el horno, mientras mezclar la leche, mostaza, ajo, sal y pimienta hasta obtener una mezcla homogénea, poner a marinar las milanesas 25 min, después escurrirlas bien y pasarlas por el pan, empanizar por ambos lados. Colocar las milanesas en una charola para galletas cubierta con papel encerado, hornear a 180 grados Celcius por ambos lados hasta que estén dorados (aproximadamente 15 min por lado), sirve con ensalada y disfruta!!!
PD: Si recuerdan mi aguacate salió muy feito y no pudo ser una rosa ☹️ pero pude rescatar una parte y la convertí en corazones 💚 siempre hay que ver el lado positivo a todo 🙌🏻

College students take note 📝 @Choosing_Balance is showing us that eating healthier in college can actually be CHEAPER when you meal prep and don't eat out! -- " Prepped lunch that I just grabbed out of the fridge to eat in the car 😋Some days you don't have any time to make something so having lunch ready to go is such a lifesaver 🙌🏻 Was able to work out before a busy day ahead and still have a healthy lunch ready to go 😎 Meal prep at the time is such a pain but it always pays off 💯 Plus then I save money by not eating out 👌🏻 People ask me a lot how I afford to eat healthy in college and honestly I think it might even save me money because I hardly ever eat out. Do you struggle with avocado shopping?
Here are some tips:

A ripe-ready avocado will 'give' ever so slightly to gentle pressure, and should be eaten within a day or two.
Do not purchase an avocado that feels super gooshy...with LOTS of 'give' because it's already over ripe, and probably brown inside.
Once an avocado begins to 'give' to gentle pressure, place it in the refrigerator to slow the ripening process...it should stay nice and ready for use for 4-5 more days! . . .
