They say the older you are the wiser you are, but that wasn't always true for me and my sister. One year ago today, my little sister @jennathevegan went vegan overnight. Although I supported her, I constantly told her she wouldn't get enough protein on a vegan diet and that I could never become vegan because "cheese though." I also would make fun of her behind her back for caring about animals (*cringe* sorry Jenna). Behind all these comments, what she didn't know was that a little voice in my head was starting to question my own consumption of animal products. I started researching the benefits of veganism and slowly began to realize how many lies we were being fed that meat/dairy/eggs were health foods. I also started to to question why I was paying the animal agriculture industry to breed, raise and brutally kill animals for the sole purpose of food that we had absolutely no biological need for. One day, I finally realized that she was right, and that day changed my life forever - it was the day I decided to go vegan too. Thank you Jenna for being such a wise, caring and compassionate young woman! You helped me make the connection and for that I will always be thankful 🌱❤️
Taste tested some new vegan @halotopcreamery flavors tonight!!! My favorite in order are: cinnamon roll, peanut butter cup, oatmeal cookie, then chocolate covered banana. CINNAMON ROLL IS SOOOO GOOD!!! Thanks Halo Top for making some vegan flavors, we appreciate it!

... ActuallyI stopped vipassana meditation after 4days for some reasons ( concerned with veganism, way of eat, spirituality.. etc ). Now I'm traveling in the west side of Japan! I've never visited Japan where I was born and raised like this. I prefer to spend my time in nature or to talk with local peoples than just sightseeing. I met many good peoples and I'm so grateful🙏🏼

I am thoroughly enjoying food while I’m here. I know that for some of you babes it can be stressful when traveling because you’re eating is off routine. For those of us with any former ill relationship with food, that can be scary. I used to fear eating out at restaurants especially when traveling because it was out of my norm and my whole fitness regime was off. I would restrict myself and end up missing out on great experiences all because of food and my body image.
But doing your best to make good choices and taking a few meals to have a burrito, icecream or cake isn’t going to make or break your fitness goals. This is a journey, and food is our friend. Remember to treat yourself like you would treat someone you love. Be kind to yourself, treat yourself to some good food, & enjoy life. I don’t care if I’m a little fluffy this week, though I feel relatively the same lol. I know that either way, when I get home the gym will be there and my morning smoothies and oatmeal will be there for me. Live in the moment fully ☺️

Van a necesitar :500 gr de harina,14 gr de levadura seca,50cc de aceite ,320cc de agua, mezclan todo,dejan leudar,les hacen los típicos agujeros arriba con los dedos,esparcen con aceite,algunos granos de sal y aceitunas cortadas por arriba.
El horno a 160° por 30 min.

In this case,a delicious focaccia. 💕
You'll need: 500 gr of flour, 14 gr of dry yeast, 50cc of oil, 320cc of water, mix everything,let it raise, make the tipical holes over it with your fingers,spread with some oil,salt over it as well, and chopped olives.
Put it in the oven at 160° for 30 min.
We loved it, and we give it ☆☆☆☆☆

👥I think it’s safe to say that if you were to take a poll on the streets today and ask “Where do you get calcium from?”, most people will say cow’s milk. Well that my friends is called very successful marketing. At least in my lifetime, calcium, strong bones and preventing osteoporosis has become synonymous with cows milk… “Got Milk?” anyone?
👀As you can see in the image above, plants, in this particular case collard greens can provide calcium in greater quantity than cows milk with a lower caloric intake. That is called bang for your buck folks! In essence, that is the beauty of plant-based foods, you always get more out of what you are consuming because the micronutrient profile of plant-based foods in comparison to animal-based ones are generally through the roof. And in regards to specifically calcium, high daily value percentages are not limited to just collard greens.
🤔Now, I know what some of you are thinking… what about absorption? Well, out of all the micronutrients vital for calcium absorption, vitamin D is the most critical. So where do you get that? The sun! 🌞 Yep… When the sun's rays hit our skin that enables our skin cells to manufacture vitamin D. Dependent on your skin type you may need as little as 15 minutes (fair skin) and up to 2 hours (dark skin).
📚While I don’t want to go into great detail around the potential risks of dairy intake, I do encourage you to challenge your critical thinking and sift through the available research which has linked dairy to a number of concerns like… specific cancers, no additional protection from fractures or osteoporosis and skin conditions (i.e. acne). In addition to these health risks, the percentage of the world’s population with reduced ability to digest lactose is >65%.

Helado de fresas y banana o conocido en muchos países como (cambur o plátano). Si eres de los que te encanta el helado pero no comes frutas, esta es una buena opción para que las consumas, sentirás que te estas comiendo un postre pero sin culpas y además estás obteniendo todos los nutrientes que nos proporcionan estos 2 alimentos. Vitaminas, fibras, potasio, calcio.
Receta para 2 porciones:
8 unidades de fresa
Leche de coco
Preparación: Cortar las frutas en trozos pequeños, llevarlas al refrigerador, una vez estén congeladas colocarlas en un procesador agregar unos 30 mililitros de leche de coco o la que tengan disponible (puede ser de almendras, avena o simplemente le pueden colocar un poco de agua) y procesar hasta que tenga la consistencia de helado. Yo no agregue azúcar porque no me parecía necesario, pero pueden colocarle stevia, y es así de fácil. Yo coloque mani y semillas de chía por encima, puedes colocar lo que tengas disponible. ¿Sabias que la fresa es una de las frutas que contiene más vitamina C? Anímate y hazlo.
