Reputations are quite the enigma to manage, especially considering that the one who holds it, actually has very little control over it. They are in fact very complex, and don't always become determined or established the way we initially perceive, or intend, them to be.
We're all familiar with the relationship between trust and reputation; and how they're both gained in drops, little by little over time, but can also be lost in buckets in an instant, with one catastrophic mistake as the catalyst.
Judgement, credibility, and influence can all be compromised with one wrong move if your strategy is not executed correctly. Not just how we chose our social relationships and business colleagues but how we select our clients and targeted affiliations within our businesses as well.
You must remain mindful of perspective, and how it influences our actions. Our behavior, the behaviors of those around us, and the behaviors of those we choose to "do business" with, are directly correlated with the potential that we possess and the opportunities that we may be able to either seize or ignore, in the future.
Taking advantage of a promising opportunity right now may be amazing in the here and now, but is it a self perpetuating opportunity that will generate value further down the road, or is it just a flash in the pan payday caught up with emotion and hype in moment.
Life isn't a sprint, it's a marathon; and we're always careful with who we chose to allow into our sacred circle of trust. We chose our friends based on love, loyalty and integrity; so why wouldn't we behave in business the same way.
Leave your past in the past.
We all make mistakes, and sometimes, overcoming those mistakes can be a long and arduous journey to recovery. However, in order to move forward, you have to own it, make amends, and leave it in the past.
If you dwell on the errors of the past, you become stagnant, and cannot grow. Make a conscious decision to own it, amend it, and leave it!
How does this relate to leadership in everyday life?
When in a position of leadership we sometimes forget that we, too, are human. And, because we can't be all things to all people, not everyone will be happy with our decisions or choices regarding our works.
The one area where you will not err, is when you strive to become a better you, each day. A cliché, you say? Well... this is real talk! Remember to always leave yesterday in the past, and continue to move forward.

I can't say enough about these two. This was my first time meeting and working together with our producer @gary.wheeler.nc and our Director/DP @brent.christy. What incredible men. They always had a cheerful spirit and encouraging word for everyone. When challenges arose, they stayed calm and patiently found a solution. They called each crew member by name and made them feel valued and appreciated. Brent always had a million things on his mind as he filled two roles at once, but he often asked me and everyone else how we were doing, and would thank us for our hard work.
Our whole crew was very professional and kind. We had each other's backs. But setting the tone for a film set starts at the top, and Gary and Brent definitely exhibited exceptional leadership. I have been so blessed by this experience and dearly hope I get to work with them again. 😊
Last week I got to talk to @sseucf about time management; I joke about how I'm "in that engineering club even though I'm not an engineer" but this organization is more than just some club. There's no doubt in my mind I was meant to find these people. To my "engineering babies", you came into my life right when I needed a group of people to bring out a fire in me I had lost. It still warms my heart every meeting (and every 2-3 planning meetings that go into them 😂) that you trust me enough to share my life nuggets! I've loved watching you grow and radiate with confidence where there once was fear. See you next week ❤️ Love, Mama Bear •
“I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.” - Michael Jordan @101rams #football#basketball 💪🏽👊🏼🏈
Yes, there is such thing.

Follow through on your commitments. Foremost to yourself and next to others. It's Monday night, if you haven't got those last few hints done you wanted for the day, pick yourself up and go get it done. You owe it to yourself, your family, your goals. The only way to accomplish what you want is to act. So make the decision and follow through. Easier said than done but I hope this will help you get up to the task! 👊🏻
We're excited to announce an upcoming @girledworld @NewCo panel event in conversation with Sally-Ann Williams of @google, Nick Crocker of #BlackBirdVentures and Ralph Ashton, Co-Founder Australian Futures Project, to chat the #FutureOfWork , how we redefine the workplace paradigm, and how we tackle unconscious gender biases to use diversity as an innovation driver.
This is a topic that will stay hot if the #HarveyWeinsteins of the world keep being (necessarily and finally) called out, exposing a deep undercurrent of entrenched inequality, and forcing the world to rethink gender roles, power dynamics and how we can all work together to find a better way to work. .
