I say Hell No to building any walls.
I've seen with my eyes and heart the tragedy that walls have created. It took almost half a century to tear down the Berlin Wall and know only too well the collective heartbreak that it represents for so many people and families.
The United States is at this moment dealing with no less than fascist forces that in the name of money and ignorant, isolationist, racist, worst than small minded forces-is dealing with a leadership and dominant political party that is doing everything to destroy what a few centuries of forefathers and mothers have stood up to defend. Why isn't the youth of America standing up and shouting no at this moment? It is as if everyone is concerned only with paying bills, making gains in the stock market. The damage being done to the reputation of the US is immeasurable. I've encountered in my world travels and friendships and contacts so many reactions of people at best aghast and at worst angrily horrified.
A friend of mine, an elder woman, in Cuba who happens to be black, asked me the other morning-"Peter, is it true that the US President doesn't like people from countries like mine that are black?. My breath was taken away and tears fell down my cheeks, because I didn't have any answer to give her but yes. This moment is horrifying. My father enlisted in World War II to defend freedom and he did it knowing very well the potential danger it meant to him to do so. It is time we all enlist in standing up and thinking beyond our bank accounts, for anyone having anything in them, and stop this horror and fight with our hearts for decency.

This young 2nd year student, Kabir Guha, has a passion for visual art and skateboarding. This is a photo of him a few moments after he broke his skateboard while practicing a trick. Right after I showed him this photo, he said "The skateboard was of poor quality, that's not the problem, the problem is that it will be a while without one." #monochromes_india
tryna to keep it peaceful is a struggle for me
