Today is my 10 year anniversary of being in the recruiting industry. It has been one of the biggest blessings in my life to learn about this industry and to develop a love for it. I'm passionate about it, and it is something I've been able to share with others and develop tremendous relationships from. I'm thankful for the people that took a chance on me. It has become a part of our culture to take chances on people based on things outside of a resume.
From time to time people tell me that we came out of no where and talk about how lucky we are. Some even called it instant success. Luck had nothing to do with it and our growth has not been instant.
After 1 year I made 10k less than I had been making in the fitness industry and worked twice as much. The second year the economy tanked and I found myself without a job. That was one of my lowest points. I had started to find success and felt like as soon as I was succeeding it was taken away. At that point I thought I met adversity, but the truth is I didn't even know what it was yet.
My next business venture was with a partner in the recruiting industry. My advice on partners is that if you do not have the same vision it will not work. Even if you make some money. After finding that out the hard way a few of my friends I'd been working with including @fkundtz and I started out a new company Spark Talent.
We have grown over 1000% in the last 4 years, but it hasn't always been smooth sailing. We have had to make tough hiring/firing decisions that have cost us friendships (some repaired and some not). We have had to make tough decisions that may have hit the bottom line in the short term, but were the right thing to do. We had a road bump year in 2016 which was my fault and yes now we are soaring to new heights with new offices in 2017. We are still learning every day and all though we have helped a lot of people we feel like we just started. Moral of the story is success isn't instant and anyone who says so is lying. #sparktalent#recruiting#staffing#hardwork#sacrifice#100kopportunitues#WIT#tampa#vision#sterlingheights#southfield#michigan#florida
