💁🏽Having trained quite a lot of men throughout my career, here are my top 4 mistakes most men make at the gym:
1️⃣lifting too damn heavy.
Ok, so, this is how I explain it to my clients: in order for you to lift 'heavy' ( whatever heavy means to you), you need to own the right to do so.
Yup, you need to master the form, master the exercise in a higher rep range (let's say anywhere between 8-15), and then focus on lower rep ranges if strength is your main goal.
Going all in , rowing 100 lbs dumbbells for 3 reps with a shitty form isn't going to make you stronger, it's only going to teach your body how to lift improperly and increase risk of injuries.
2️⃣Not training legs.
You have leg muscles, train them.
Playing soccer, football, basketball isn't quite the same as strength training.
In order to create a balanced, strong, functional physique- you must train your leg muscles.
Not only that, but strengthening your leg muscles would make you a better athlete on the field.
3️⃣Training only the muscles you see- chest & biceps.
Same as the above.
Most men who train like that would have a kyphotic appearance/posture since they never payed attention to strengthening their back muscles.
For every 1 chest exercise you do , perform 2-3 back exercises (rowing mainly).
4️⃣Going into the gym with no purpose.
This is a big one. Having a good program that is effective and safe isn't about combining a bunch of random exercises, and call it a day.
Don't expect to progress like that.
When you go to the gym, have a game plan in mind, follow it, and aim to improve at every workout.
-good luck !
Ya girl is back and betta than eva!
Over the last 8 months, I managed to dislocate my shoulder, get a concussion, and then pull my hamstring. Not only was I physically restrained from lifting, my mentality was too. I lost motivation, I didn’t have it in me to lift heavy, and I just felt weak in all forms. I’ve been working on myself and I finally feel like I’ve got a handle on things again and I’m ready to get liftin’!! Soooo this instagram is officially coming back to life, lessss do this 🤗💪🏼
Probably the worst night of sleep I’ve ever had 😂 lol
Pretty crazy the things modern medicine and technology can accomplish and discover these days. Besides that it’s time to get back at it. 💪🏽 time to get that diet back on point and get back to 305lbs ⚔️
Did gastric bypass surgery give me these guns? 206 pounds lost!! Get so tired of saying I took the easy way out or boast about how they did it naturally. That's great for you and I'm truly proud of you for doing so. Please don't try and make me feel like what I have done was easy. Nothing about this process is easy. Regardless of the methods be happy for people for bettering themselves. Lift one another up. It is so much easier to be nice to people. I know a lot of people who are not nearly as successful or put all the weight back on. Yes we may lose the weight faster but this is a lifelong journey. We have to maintain the lifestyle to keep the weight off. It's all about willpower even with bariatric surgery. I just needed some extra help. I did what I needed to do to become healthy. End rant! #gastric#gastricbypass#fattofit#fitfam#gymselfie#happy#healthy#muscles#bariatricbabe#wls#weightloss#extremeweightloss#bodypositive#bekind
82.5lb for 4x6. Each video is my first rep for all 4 sets, and I see that mentality plays a HUGE role on my lifts
1️⃣ Bar felt heavy, I felt kinda tired but didn't think of it too much.
2️⃣ Started freaking out about how my pauses arn't long enough.
3️⃣ Really freaked out about how my pauses weren't long enough and was telling @davidtheho I wanted to drop the weight before going into this set but he told me not to. Notice how my elbows are shaking a lot more and I wasn't staying tight.
4️⃣ David told me my pauses are fine and to go get a spotter because he said that will change my mentality and confidence. And it actually did and the weight felt lighter.
TL:DR: my confidence sucks and I always doubt myself
