🍦I was chatting to one of my online coaching clients the other day about her feeling bloated and why this may be. Now bloating is normally a temporary thing that will go away. It certainly doesn’t mean you’re getting fat 🙄 There are many reasons for feeling bloated; food related and non-food related. In this post I’m going to look at certain foods that MIGHT (you see that? Might!) make you feel bloated .

🍪It’s quite common to see foods, such as, dairy, refined sugars and refined grains (like gluten) be top of the list. Artificial sweeteners can also have a bloating effect. The reason why I put a picture of a protein bar is because, despite being considered a ‘healthy’ snack, these are often full of sweeteners, sugar alcohols and poor quality protein (usually soy)

🥦Interesting is that some vegetables high in sulfur, like broccoli, cabbage and cauliflower can cause bloating and gas in some people. Carbonated drinks sounds obvious too, especially when combined with artificial sweeteners. Undigested protein (or poor quality protein) can also play havoc in the gut, despite having loads of benefits. Eat slower!

🤔So how can you tell what is causing you to bloat? It’s difficult, I get it. Be aware of what you’re eating and write down how you feel after each meal. If there’s a particular meal that caused an issue, look at the individual components of said meal. Next time remove 1 or 2 and see how you feel. Basically, it’s a lot of trial and error and being in tune with your body 👍

Red-Purple cabbage and all types of cabbage have cancer preventative benefits as they contain a compound called sinigrin which is a cabbage glucosinolate. It converts into isothiocyanate or AITC which has shown to have unique cancer preventative properties especially in regards to bladder, colon, prostate and breast cancers. Why is it so easy to get caught up or hyper-focused on what we consume? At what point does food go from being fuel for our bodies/lives to an addiction we cannot break or a set of unhealthy habits that make it difficult to get healthy? In my health journey I’ve recognized that some of my unhealthy habits were learned behaviors from childhood (i.e. starch portion sizes, not drinking fluids with a meal, using food as a reward, etc.), adopted laziness and learned helplessness as an adult. How can I justify a drive-thru as a “time-saving convenience” but still have time to Netflix binge? Hm...🤔 My Health Coach is awesome because she saw these unhealthy habits in my life, listened to my myriad of excuses to not devote the time/energy to my health and then asked “Anything else?” She encouraged me, let me sit in my unhealthy ways and then when I was done being a whiner she was there waiting for me.  I’ve said it and heard it all: * “I don’t have time.”
* “My kids won’t eat a healthy meal and I’m not making 2 different meals.”
* “My partner won’t do this with me so I can’t.”
* “Eating healthy is expensive.” TIME - We all have the same 24 hours in a day and whether it’s kids, partners, school or work fighting for our hearts/attention we get to choose what people, places and things get our energy.

KIDS - I’m not a parent but I’ve been patented; I grew up in a house with a mom who said “This isn’t Burger King, you don’t get to have it your way.” You ate what was for dinner or you didn’t eat; kids adapt relatively well when option #2 is being hungry. Plus, imagine a household of healthy children; no highs/lows in blood sugar levels causing irrational emotional outbursts. What?! Some call them “terrible toddlers” but what if they’re responding to their nutrition habits the same way you respond to your morning jolt of caffeine/sugar? Just sayin’...🤭 PARTNERS - It’s okay to get healthy on your own, it’s just more fun with others! Lucky for you, we have an AMAZING community of people who contend for their own health and encourage others to do the same. First time trying 99 percent cacao, who it is intense.  You really can’t eat much of it, And also you really don’t have a craving for it.

many people don’t know the dark chocolate has a lot of nutrients in it, fiber, iron, magnesium, copper, manganese, zinc, potassium, selenium. Also it has more #antioxidants than most fruits. 
Keep in mind that milk or White chocolate does not have the same properties, and as most of us know they are more addicting.

I couldn’t find this at the grocery store, I had to order it, when I’m at my office I will have little squares of dark chocolate periodically throughout the day.

I feel #energized and super #focused and it does not cause any blood sugar spikes.

It truly is a #super #healthy #food

For the quality and cost I find Lindt to be one of the best brands.  Anybody recommend anything else?  I have tried the @dave.asprey bullet proof version which I think is very good to.

1/2 Tsp Baking Powder
3 Tbsp Egg Whites

Workout update: 📯I managed this afternoon to do my first day of intense workout rope exercises〰️ It wasn’t as hard as I thought. I have done the up-and-down waves, side to side waves, inside and outside circles and walk, jump and lunge waves. It was nice to finish the exercises but I’ve now got a little bit of a muscle ache.
So it is definitely working!✅

Healthy CREAM CHEESE MUFFINS
Serving Size 
One muffin counts as 1 ½ fat servings and 2 1/3 condiments.
2 (8 oz) packages low-fat cream cheese
1/2 cup of Splenda
2 eggs
1/2 teaspoon of vanilla
cinnamon to taste (optional)
Makes 12 muffins 
Microwave cream cheese for 40 seconds. Add all ingredients and mix on a low setting until smooth. Line muffin tin. Bake in preheated oven and 350 degrees for 20 minutes, then turn oven off, open oven door, and let the muffins stand for 1 hour. Store in the refrigerator.
