Overhead press new PB for 6 as well.

Training is going very well at the moment along with diet. Bodyfat is coming down slowly and maintainably. Strength is going up and overall muscularity is up from this point last year. 
Very happy with the consistency I've had over the past 6-8 months.

While I was writing this week's content about masculinity, I first needed to find out what would make it exclusive to men. In doing so I couldn't think of a single task that was exclusive to men... besides being a dad.
For example, my mom is an extremely versatile woman, but she could never be a dad.
I was raised by strong, intelligent, independent, badass women, but they couldn't prepare me for for the street (where I was viewed as a physical threat by society) or, much scarier, what was expected of me as a father.

I found out I was going to be a father right after my 17th birthday.
I was horrified.

The responsibility was daunting, especially since I didn't have a dad around, so there was no point of reference to draw from. (Shout out to Uncle Phil, Carl Winslow, and Danny Tanner.)
Who was going to teach me how to survive, let alone thrive, and support my daughter?
Luckily I had 4 major men in my life outside of my amazing cousins to show me what's what.
There was Gerod Schreffin, my school teacher who taught me how to think critically.
My martial arts instuctor, Shidoshi Nathan Ingram, who combined everything I knew about martial arts and helped me apply it to life and combat.
Rich Barretta, without whom I would have quit training a long time ago, and Stu Rosenstein who helped me build my business through caring and understanding my clients.
It's not that I couldn't have learned what they shared with me from a woman.
It's probably more that I needed to hear the message from someone who understood my individual perspective.
I'm thankful for these men and pass on the lessons that I've learned to my daughter.
I know that it will not be easy, but if I continue to adapt and "man up" like my mom did, then perhaps I can give her a better start than I had.

Basically don't ever let money keep you from achieving better health and wellness. Myself and my entire team LOVE helping others and we are always running some type of fun fitness group. 🙌

Whilst everyone's out there training their glooooootes please don't forget your quads! It's important to train opposing muscles (antagonists) such as quads and hamstrings/glutes so that imbalances don't occur! .
I really neglected quads for about a year, on an attempt to focus all my leg days into the peach 🍑 but when it started to hinder my squat form I said ❌ to aesthetics and ✔️to working on my weaknesses. .
Front squats really target the quads! .

Decided to use the chains today during my  leg workout, I worked up to 135lbs on the bar plus an additional 40lbs per chain.

Chains are a great tool that often get misused. Chains are most commonly used to add additional resistance to a lift on the way up. This works by having links come off the floor one by one on the way up. The movement will be easiest at the bottom when there are more links resting on the floor, and it will be most challenging at the top and on the way up when the links are coming off the floor.

I also found the the chains to be particularly useful in terms of correcting some stability issues I have due to scoliosis. I tend to squat a little bit crooked and at an uneven pace, but the chains helped clean that up a lot - especially on the eccentric (descent) of the squat.

220kg/484lbs squat; this wasn't as smooth as I'd hoped but still happy with it and feeling confident in my squats.

110kg/242lbs bench; I'm really happy with this, put a lot of emphasis on bench since last comp. Elbow flare seems to be far more controlled.

245kg/539lbs deadlift; moved nice and smoothly. Hook grip felt good and I felt great so the SBD sessions have worked nicely!
