🎶HARPSTORATIVE🎶... ok that isn't a word BUT IT SHOULD BE. Come ye come ye for an evening of Restorative Yoga (taking a nap in public on super comfortable cushions) on October 26th at 6.30pm at Ishta Yoga. I'll be playing the harp and singing awesome shit by Cyndi Lauper, Bryan Ferry, Jeff Buckley and other amazing dudes while my beautiful fellow teacher Donna takes you through an extended Restorative practice... It's going to be not entirely terrible 🎵
While I'm at it, I may as well also let you know that the Shiva to my Shakti @srcahe and I are now teaching a class together at 6.45pm every Saturday evening at Ishta 💞come and play, we have fun
You have to learn to get up from the table when LOVE is longer being served. #KnowYourWorth -------------------------------------------
Improvement on my forearm wheel is being able to get into the pose effortlessly (with less warm up time) and on first try 🤗as oppose to countless attempts & struggle when I was learning this asana months ago. #PracticeAndAllisComing --------------------------------------------

The things that hurt you, that caused you pain, do not define you. Nothing that broke you, caused you the most intense damage, deserves the right to define who you are. They are things that happened to you, that evolved you as a person that changed you, but they still do not get the right define your beautiful, brilliant soul which contains a tiny universe as vast as the one you see as endless in the night sky.
What does define you is your survival, your ability to have experienced terrible things and still, found it inside yourself to survive, to have the kind of courage so many would not dream of, to grow wings where yours had been taken and cut down. You are made of beautiful, incredible, impossible things and your trauma does not get to trick you into believing that it is the only thing about you that matters.
The person who you were before damage came for you, that person is long gone and they will not be coming back, but remnants of them remain. Together the damage and the past before it have made you a brand new human, a stronger human, a better human.
You have forged yourself. From the very womb of your sadness, from the womb of your old self, you have come out, borne of heartache and pain. So no. After all that fighting you have done, your trauma does not get to define you, my dear heart.
You are whole despite it. A better, braver, stronger you in every single way.
And believe me, the universe is proud of you, you are fulfilling your purpose here in every single way. - Nikita Gill ✨💜🙏🕉✨
Yeaaah....no. Not by a long shot 😅 Can you tell by my expression how much I dislike this? Middle splits is a looong time coming for me. In the meantime I will keep practicing with a grimace on my face😂 #splits12 ✨ (also going to be cheeky and use this for #SofaYoga since the stars aligned and my nemesis pose happened on the same day for each😭) hosts (in posting order):
Day 8 of #wejustwannahandstand was all about getting into them and falling out of them: two things that scared me the most when I first started practicing them. It’s crazy how far I’ve come; believing that I CAN do anything that I set my mind to. Anything is possible for me, anything is possible for you. Don’t let what your scared of limit you 👌🏼 (sorry for the bad quality video😫) HOSTS: @tiny.kirsty @allykborn @yogiaubrey @yogidslvo

When I began my yoga journey, I was trying to transform my body. I was in nursing school and hadn't done any real workouts since high school and wanted to do something that made me feel strong. And to be honest, in the beginning if you would have told me that the point of yoga was to transform the mind, not the body, I probably wouldn't have been interested. It was by happy accident that yoga did indeed transform my mind.
Something magical happens on the mat. Every yogi has that moment when something clicks, and their way of thinking fundamentally shifts.
And as my practice deepens, I continue to transform — sometimes in subtle ways and often in surprising ways. But always in ways that are far more transformative and exciting than the progress of my forearm wheel pose. 😊
❤️THIS HAPPENED TONIGHT!!!!!! ❤️ I got into pigeon trying to think of some variation to do that I haven’t done so many times before and for the heck of it thought I’d just give king pigeon a whirl (thinking to myself there was no way it was going to happen...) BUT IT DID!!!! ✨I FLIPPED MY GRIP FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER!!!! ✨ I’m sorry I’m just so beyond excited because I literally thought that my arms just didn’t move like that and I had kind of resigned myself to the fact that this would probably never happen! So for day 10 of #yogitrickortreat I very proudly present my first #kingpigeonpose 😍

Day 3 of 🍃🍁#Yoga2GroundYou with #goddesspose ❤️❤️ I feel like I'm feeling a lot of negative energy lately and I don't know why 😞 hopefully it's just my mood 💕💕. The seasons are changing, and as Autumn settles in the UK there’s a beautiful sea of reds, oranges and browns, and fresh air on your skin and in your hair 🍂🍁. How do the changing seasons make you feel? Some of us may be feeling a little airy because wind is the element of Autumn! I wish I were an artist and could capture the beauty of the colours - whether in Spring or Autumn.

Come into your breath. Allow it to fill you. Fully receive the inhale. All the way from the base of your belly, expanding the ribs, broadening the chest. Pause. Feel the mingling of energy at the top of the throat. The space between. A moment of stillness. Then let it all go.
Don't be basic. Learn how to be yourself. Find yourself on the mat #yogaeverydamnday

Visits home are always too short, but filled with all the nature hikes, bike rides, and exploring with the fam! Feeling the luckiest to be able to share it all with my man & show him what home is 🍁✨
Once in a while I look straight at the camera and smile, immediately I feel weird about it and do something like this 😜 (swipe ⏪). Next thought is 'ok Melanie act normal' so then I look away from the camera (exhibit C) and I just concentrate on the pose 🙈
