Green bananas are prebiotics...well maybe not this green but bananas that are slightly raw still, not soft and spotty, are a great food source for our microbiome. So what are prebiotics?? They are insoluble plant fibers that are food for our gut bugs helping to improve a number of gut related, mental, cardiovascular and endocrine disorders. Feeding our gut bacteria on a daily basis with prebiotics is a great long-term option to rebalance the populations and promote wellness and vitality. It's also more cost effective than probiotics (which while handy need to be specific to the condition being treated, are transient and can alter the balance of our bacteria) as prebiotics are foods! They include raw asparagus, cooked and raw onion, artichoke, raw garlic (add to dressings), leek, chicory root, avocado and dandelion greens. Try adding some in today and see if you notice the difference in a week or so! 🍌🥑

Researchers have found success using specific probiotics and cruciferous vegetables to treat colorectal cancers in animal models.
Cruciferous veg such as broccoli, kale, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, cabbage and radishes are already known to be protective against certain cancers. In this study in combination with specific probiotics they found that the vegetable substances killed cancer cells, reduced tumour numbers and possibly shrank tumours.
In an human application the researchers predict diet and probiotic therapy could soon be used to prevent colorectal cancers. Another potential use is after surgery for tumour removal to 'clean up' stray cancer cells and to prevent cancer recurrence.
As one researcher noted, "Mothers are right after all, eating vegetables is important." Diet can, and increasingly is, already being used as an adjunct cancer therapy however specific well researched applications such as this show it is moving into mainstream medical care.
Now to try and make the hospital meals you're given when you wake up from cancer surgery health supportive and not white bread, margarine, jam and cereal...
(True story btw, refined carbs, pure sugar and inflammatory oils given by healthcare centres during cancer treatment. Oh boy. But that's a rant for another day...😉) #greatlygoodgreens

Chitosanase. It's one difference between ProBio5 and all other probiotics. Probiotics are so important for balancing our bodies and boosting our immune systems!
Most probiotics on the market today, promote a large quantity of probiotic strains. You've seen it - "50 billion strains per capsule!" or "14 billion #good bacteria!" or (my favorite) "85 billion live cultures, GUARANTEED!" But, like most things, it's the quality, not quantity that counts. And, none of these probiotics can be absorbed as thoroughly as ProBio5.
Here's why: Yeast overgrowth actually INHIBITS the #absorption of #probiotics When yeast multiplies in the gut, it forms a tough, protective cell wall called Chitin. This is what makes yeast #overgrowth hard to kill.
ProBio5 (unlike other probioitcs) includes the enzyme, Chitosanase, which breaks through that cell wall and effectively attacks the yeast overgrowth, so that the intestines can properly absorb the culture forming units.
The ProBio5 capsules are also specially formulated to dissolve when they reach the pH of your gut. Why is this important? Other probiotics dissolve in your stomach.
Unfortunately, stomach acid will kill off a large percentage of the bacteria before it reaches your gut. ProBio5 ensures that 100% of live cultures and enzymes make their way to your gut - exactly where they need to be.
Why is yeast overgrowth a big deal? Because it prohibits vitamins and minerals from being absorbed fully. Everyone has a yeast overgrowth to some degree (yes, you too) and it could be the reason you feel sluggish, crave #sugar , get headaches/#migraines ,feel bloated, experience constipation, or many other symptoms.
Long touted for their antioxidant value blueberries (well- berries overall) when consumed regularly are also believed to be wonderful for the heart, may lower the risk of blood clotting and encourage higher levels of LDL cholesterol. As for Anti ageing? Eating berries sure beats Botox injections. #blueberries#berries#goodforyou#eatrealfood
... it’s about taking steps ...
In thinking today whilst so so busy doing Jun (@jun_ofthegods)
I was thinking over many conversations that we have as well as the ones we dont have.
And there are a few themes that most of them can be placed into
One of which is the journey.
These words some days equate to
For the journey is about our life and how we are doing it
Maybe even How well we are doing it
The journey is about the beginning the middle the end
Of which sums up our life
And of these three we control mostly the middle
Some say the dash
The dash between our birth date and the day we die
This is the period of time that we get to journey.
Well here at least ..
And we forget
That each and every day we are taking steps
Not every day is a leap
Some days may feel like one step back
Some days may feel like we’ve co wed a whole lot of ground
But it’s the steps
That add up to the journey
And we forget to look at all these steps
We forget the length of the roads and how weary we get walking them
We forget that pebbles get in our shoes sometimes and bother us
We forget that there’s mountains to climb and rivers to cross
We forget that every day we are all taking steps
And that’s what counts
It’s so easy to look and think we’ve done little
Or that we haven’t achieved all we’d have liked
Maybe days we glow with knowing we’ve accomplished mixed with moments of slumping to the floor
It’s all steps
And we’re doing it
We are each doing a great job of the journey
Just focus on the steps
Sometimes we don’t need to continually look at the Big journey picture ahead
But the steps everyday
We’ve got this ..
Spent most of my evening making Kimchi. ✅. The brine colour is just so amazing. For this batch I tweaked my recipe a little. I’m so excited to see how it turns out. Probiotics for the win all day long.
I spy Tangy Turtle at one of our favourite Phnom Penh hangouts - Pelican Cafe! Pair kombucha with a sourdough sandwich or sauerkraut dumplings for some extra delicious probiotics!
This pretty much sums up an amazing day. Started my day with some fasted cardio, listened to a podcast talking about thinking about your favorite things. Then I show up at work and some jerk decided to call me a “Bitch” and a “shitty” driver when I asked him to move his truck so I could park. (He was literally blocking the entrance to my work). I was so pissed! I did not let that ruin my day. I got to play fun and competitive tennis with my husband, then straight to Crossfit, where I killed my workout. Overhead squats and tall box jumps, (overhead squats are not my favorite, but a high intensity sprint workout is my jam). My energy, stamina, and focus on the Tennis Court and at Crossfit were through the roof after taking my @1upnutrition pre-workout. Then I went to Natural Grocers and found all my favorite things on sale! Wildbrine kimchee and kimchee Sriracha, pili nuts, and 4th and heart ghee, (forgot to put it in the picture). Then I go to get the mail...and I have a Paleo magazine and a new cute sporty Ipsy bag full of awesome products. Today was a good day. I’m truly blessed.

🍃Let's talk about #Health and bacteria. 🍃
Did you know that Hand Washing Your Dishes Could Be Better For Kids’ Health?? 😮😮 wait a minute .. what???? YES.. I know 🤔.. Most people have and rely on their dishwasher to make things easier and faster so you can enjoy more time with family! But maybe its time to change that!!
Doing dishes the old-fashioned way (by hand)👏 might help curb a modern day problem: Rising rates of childhood allergies, a new study suggests📚. Researchers🔬 in Sweden found that children living in families that hand washed their dishes were about 40% less likely to develop allergies compared with kids in homes that used a dishwasher, said study researcher Dr. Bill Hesselmar, an allergist at the University of Gothenburg Department of Pediatrics👩⚕️.
The researchers said they suspect that hand washing dishes doesn’t get them as clean as the dishwasher does, which is actually a GOOD thing because it can help protect against allergies by exposing family members to more BACTERIA. 😮😮😮 Now this makes sense... Also the book "Eat Dirt" from Dr. Josh Axe explains that people who eat in handwashed dishes can deprive their bodies🤸♀️ of a chance to be expose to more bacteria, which can bolster the immune system 😷. Kids are less likely to develop allergic athsma and eczema.
If we have a healthy gut 🍃, give ourselves and our kids a good probiotic👍 and eat foods that nourish our body 🥗we would be doing our body a favors by getting these micro-doses of "immunity modulators"

💕Arianna and I were #sick for about a week and a half and both had to take #antibiotics for 10 days!!! Of course I wanted to get #well so I obliged, however, I made sure we took our #probiotics without fail. While I appreciate the removal of all that bad #bacteria , we desperately needed to replenish the goodies as well. With the sick plague hitting sooo many people lately, I recommend each and every one of you be on a quality probiotic. It is necessary especially during this #season . Your #gut will thank you and you’ll be glad you did. 💕 #holistichealth#flu
