Just made some quick curry slaw to ferment. It's a short ferment about 5-7 days so it's not like a kraut. My favorite way to have it is mixed with tuna, onion, plain Greek yogurt, and extra curry powder. (Plain or thrown on a salad) So good. Definitely one of my favorites! (fermented oatmeal and water kefir in the background)
Kicking this cold like a bad habit! ✌🏻 I used to get sick multiple times per year 🤒...but since I've cleaned up my diet + personal care products + supplements, I find that colds will start to come on, but never settle in. This is mainly because through these methods I've healed my gut - which houses 80% of my immune system. Garbage in -> garbage out.
I'm also more conscious to tune in and listen to my bodies natural alarm system. If sickness is starting to settle in it means my defences are down and I need to rest and recharge. In yoga we say that the body whispers before it screams - so true!

Supplements can NOT replace a good diet. However, they can be beneficial for optimal health. There is no magic pill that will make you lose weight so don't think that way either. ☝🏼
Here is my current supplement stash:
• Digestive enzymes: I only take these when I'm having a large "unhealthy" meal (usually when I go out to eat). They help your body break down your meal if you take one right before or as you are consuming. 🍽
• Magnesium: I take this before bed to help calm the body and mind; it also helps with digestion. 🙏🏼
• Probiotics: The holy grail of everything gut health related. Seriously if you aren't taking these... START NOW. 🗣 • Multi-vitamin: I take this to ensure I have ALLLL THE VITAMINS AND MINERALS IN THE WORLD. Jk. Kinda. 👑
• Fish oil w/ Vitamin D: Gives you a large dose of essential fatty acids; with vitamin D because we live in Canada and we need that. 🌞
I don't ~usually~ have favourite brands of supplements but I always buy a good quality option from a health food store.

The black object on the left bottom is Narthangai oorga. It a salty dry pickle made by drying citron (a variety of lemon) and has many health benefits. Did you know that what you eat impacts the health of your immune system? It's especially important this time of year as colds and flus are common 🤧 and you are likely not getting enough of some essential vitamins your body needs to stay healthy and function properly.
