Mr Six was having a very bad day. He ended up in his room, shouting and throwing things about. A short time later I found this note on the outside of his door. He had identified the reason he wasn't coping with life, and he was right!
How often as adults do we also know that we need to get to sleep earlier in order to manage our busy lives with a smile, yet still stay up too late on a regular basis?
Sleep is the equivalent of a free magic pill which brings us energy, health and happiness, so let's use it! I often suggest to clients that they set an alarm at a set time to stop doing chores and to wind down, then another at the time that they need to go to sleep. This one simple practice can be life changing. Try it!

Let’s talk about the pituitary gland.  The laziest organ in our body yet plays a key role in producing all of the hormones that effect our lives in such a serious way.  It is responsible for your ability to sleep easier, mental clarity, libido, staying youthful, weight loss and building lean muscle tone.  Also thyroid function and digestion.

That being said I've been struggling to get quality sleep this week and last night wasn't having any more of it. Scented candles are usually my 'sleeping dust' but as I had run out I decided to use my #liquidyoga stress free space spray which contains a blend of essential oils. I also discovered the #calmapp and was able to listen to some relaxing piano music 🎶 which sent me into dreamland. Woke up feeling super refreshed and I'm sure my skin would thank me for it in years to come.

Getting enough good quality sleep can be just as important to your health as diet and exercise.  Poor quality sleep will also increase brain fog, make it harder to maintain a healthy weight and increase your risk for type 2 diabetes. 
To help improve sleep --> 1. Dim your lights and avoid screens (TV, phone, tablet, etc) at least an hour before bed.  2. Get moving during the day. Even going for a short walk during the day can help improve your sleep. 3. Eat and drink clean.  Sugar and processed foods can interfere with good quality sleep. Avoid heavy meals too close to bedtime.  4. Keep a consistent sleep/wake schedule, even on the weekends.  Also, avoid the snooze button.  5. Clear your head and relax before bed.  Find something that works for you -- Meditate, use visualization or use a progressive muscle relaxation exercise, take a warm shower, aromatherapy, etc. .

It’s Day 9 of my #30daysofbeing challenge and today it’s all about prioritising sleep! To maintain a healthy body and mind we should be getting between 7-8 hours of sleep each and every day. Yet this is the one thing I find mothers can be particularly bad at prioritising. Our days are busy juggling multiple plates and often the evening is the only time we feel we have to catch up on all our ‘to-dos’. However, we are not at our most productive at night, so what might take 20 minutes when we are fresh in the morning, takes over an hour in the evening. So my challenge to you today is to go up to bed at least 30 minutes earlier than usual tonight. Switch off all electric devices at least 1 hour before you go to bed, and leave your devices out of your bedroom. Use the extra time to take a bath, read a book, or practice some meditation. #motivationmonday 🤙👊Cruised thru my first 🏃🏻 after a minor left lower quad strain 😣 early last week from 🚴. Today's run was 9 mi.@ 7:53mi. Comfortable flow form-focused😳. It was a #challenge 😠to sideline my run therapy for three days coming off my BIGGEST run week EVER (53 miles 🙌🏼). I found recovery, solitude and gained strength by 🏊🏼instead (logged 7000m/3 days). #lessonlearned was to be patient with myself.
