The title of this artwork is "Harvesting Sugar Baby Melons in August" This was my first attempt at growing watermelons, and I was so thrilled with the results! I grew 6 melons in a 4'x8' raised bed. I only expected half that much. I could not resist making a tongue in cheek fun image with these spectacularly sweet beauties. This image is part of the Sustain series. All Sustain series images are available for your collection in limited edition from my website, starting at $600 (an edition of 10 at 14" x 21" size, an edition of 6 at 28" x 42" and an edition of 4 at 40" x 60") Go to⠀

Real talk on #TurtleTuesday 🐢The documentary FIX AND RELEASE screening at #PiF2017 this week (Saturday, Oct 21 at @algreentheatre, 2:30pm) features the work of @ontarioturtlecc. They take in sick and injured turtles, they fix them and they release them. Right now in Ontario, 7 out of 8 species of turtles are at risk. Here's what they have to say about why adult female turtles are so crucial to the survival of the species: "The early death of an adult turtle has a much greater impact on the population than the death of a hatchling or juvenile. The adult female turtle is of GREAT value to the survival of a population. Considering as few as 1% of hatchlings reach maturity, and only half of these are likely to be female, it would take 200 eggs and 18 years to produce another adult female. Because so few turtles ever reach sexual maturity, each adult turtle is part of an elite group destined to live and breed for many years in order to perpetuate the species. Removing an adult turtle has a negative impact on the population – and saving a turtle has a beneficial impact on the population as a whole."
This is why roads and cars are having such a devastating impact on turtle populations. This year, a state of emergency was declared for Ontario's turtles as the OTCC experienced double the number of admissions. BREAK FOR TURTLES and donate to @ontarioturtlecc to thank them for the work they do 👏
Join us to see the incredible work of this organization on the big screen Saturday, October 21, 2:30pm @algreentheatre FIX AND RELEASE: saving the world, one turtle at a time 🐢✊️
Days go by. We pray God for rain and pray God for hope.
Human being is expected to move forward no matter what. The past is the experience that hopefully will make us do better in the future.
This world has turned into a scary place, though. Still there is beauty in a tree, a flower, a sunset, a wave. Mother earth can comfort us but as a mother she will also ground us until we learn.
There’s one thing I heard a few years ago and never forgot. Nature does not forgive. Nevertheless, it allows us to redeem ourselves.
There are many reasons we are presenting Dr. Roberta Bondar with the 2017 Planet in Focus Canadian Eco-Hero Award tonight. She is an extremely accomplished person and has been generously sharing her accomplishments throughout her life, inspiring others to see the Planet as she does: through the lens of a photographer, an astronaut, a neurologist, and an educator. Scroll though to get an idea of why we are honouring her with the Canadian Eco-Hero Award ➡️, read more about each point on our blog, and join us at @hotdocsfest Ted Rogers Cinema for An Evening with Dr. Roberta Bondar at 7:00pm!
Thank you to the generous organizations who make our Eco-Hero Awards possible: @pureandsimpleca and @esricanada 👏
✨I will fill myself with the desert and the sky. I will be stone and stars, unchanging and strong and safe. The desert is complete; it is spare and alone, but perfect in its soltitude. I will be the desert✨~Kiersten White

Non-violence leads to the highest ethics, which is the goal of all evolution. Until we stop harming all other living beings, we are still savages.
The single most impactful thing you can do today is adopt a more plantbased diet. ✨💚🌱🍃🌿
