The Bayon (Khmer: ប្រាសាទបាយ័ន, Prasat Bayon) is a well-known and richly decorated Khmer temple at Angkor in Cambodia. Built in the late 12th or early 13th century as the official state temple of the Mahayana Buddhist King Jayavarman VII
flashback to the Bayon Temple in Siem Reap// pictures just doesn’t do any justice to this phenomenal monument. It was so fun to go around finding a different perspective to viewing the same landscape surrounding it. I swear it was like being inside a kaleidoscope. #bayontemple#siemreap#heavenonearth#myancestorsdidthat 😂
It’s the heads!! Aren’t these dudes adorable? Bayon Temple, the centerpiece of Angkor Thom, couldn’t be more different than its more famous neighbor to the South. While Angkor Wat is more impressive from afar, Bayon is the best in close quarters. From the outside it looks like a collection a beehives and isn’t much to look at. Inside, after ascending to the upper level, is where you find the heads. 216 of them!! They are around you any way you turn which would be intimidating if they didn’t have such a chill look their face(s). These bros just want to hang! grounds.
