Ok this is as high as I can go before I head to the ground.. no hang time whatsoever 😅 ⬅️ Vid to see that the #struggleisreal .. serious strength issues here 😨 ⬅️ Consolation comparison with last year when I could barely lift my head 😁 ⬅️ Comparing both sides.. I can twist and land easily onto my left arm but to the right is a different story.. much harder to twist to the less good side and iffy landing on the arm. Hmm 🤔 Well, first off I kept wanting to come on to the balls of my feet to balance myself from falling over. So lowering the heels was hard enough, let alone finding that twist.

Why athletes should practice yoga:

So, holding a tuck in pincha is already challenging for me (I blame it on my lack of strength in deep core muscles or my abs?) - but after a practice focused on backbending, it‘s extra hard! I either collapsed or fell over into forearmwheel. 😅🙈

Day 19 - #PadangusthaDhanurasana .

Another progress and I wasn't even planning on giving it a go today.  But it felt good so I worked on it a little without pushing. .

I'm amazed I could get to this point without feeling pressure and without my normal big warmup. .

I think my shoulders and upper back made the most progress last year. .

Getting assessment and treatment for my back today, actually it's most likely my pelvis and SI joints. Fingers crossed it can be fixed easily.

Yasss! 🎉🎉 First time ever I tried bowpose with a yogamat under my hips! It felt so good! 💛💛💛
And I used a smaller strap (or this year actually the 2 smallest straps by @mamakuka); in the years before I used the stretchy @infinitystrap - it’s a lot easier to flip the grip with 2 straps, of course!

I’ve come quite far from my first bowposes though! 🙏🏼😍 I didn’t like like this pose for so long, and therefore didn’t practice it (oh, yes, you know that, too! Don’t you? 😜)

Goal for next year is being able to straighten my arms and legs more! I didn’t realize that they weigh a ton!!! And maybe (who knows?) flip the grip without the straps? 💜✨✨

I noticed this already last year: this pose looks so easy and relaxed - and isn’t!! 🤪 (this is my favorite emoji for this challenge!) What can I say, I can twist a little bit better but not enough to wrap both of my knees with my arms, and as arms don’t grow longer, I will need to work on my twist!

Today I pulled out my tool box the classic “add on” game. Usually played in a group were each player adds a move on to a short sequence. Here u see the end sequence my phone and I played.

My favorite shape in pincha and handstand, and the only shape I can hold for a longer time at the moment. The legs help holding the balance and my back likes the bend. 😍😍😍 ...and hello toes, can‘t see you yet, but you‘re getting closer! 🤗

Thanks for all your sweet messages yesterday, I‘m still struggling with various pains and aches in my knees and hips, and overall soreness. 😏 Will foamroll and stretch it out now! 
Let me tell you, we all want to get older but not old! 👵🏼👵🏼😅😂😂 .

Oh, and this is an old pic I haven’t posted yet! I‘m taking it slowly today, no yoga yet, but I’ve planned to go to a yoga class later. .

Sidecrow plus lotus legs is still waaaay out of my reach! This is a twist my body won’t let me do! 😳 
What’s important though is that I showed up on my mat again 🙌🏻 I was thinking of quitting as I’m feeling a bit under the weather and I’m really tired from the last 16 days in this challenge 😅 My muscles around my hips and shoulders are so sore, so I want all yoga classes I go to right now to be restorative but they aren’t! .
Last year I didn’t twist well but I was stronger and could lift from tripod headstand to regular #kukkutasana, which I couldn‘t do today. Maybe I’m feeling my age or it‘s just today, but I‘m really exhausted 💤 Good night! 😴 .

Up and at em early🌅this morning to get in part one☝🏼of my workout for the day! It can be a struggle 😩 to get myself out of bed 🛏 in the morning, but my day always starts 🎉 off on a better foot when I get after 👊🏼 it first thing in the a.m. ✅ ✅✅Hit the treadmill for a quick 25 minute session: 🔸5 min warm up, fast walk
🔸For 20 mins repeat the following:
🔸20 sec right side shuffle
🔸20 sec left side shuffle
🔸20 sec sprint
🔸1 min fast walk

Viparita Virabhadrasana ...Reverse Warrior Pose works on stretching the side body, groins, hips and legs ; strengthening the hips, quads, arms, shoulders and neck. ..... most vinyasa classes have this asana in transitions during the Virabhadrasana poses or whilst completing the standing / balance sequences. If you hold and stay in this asana though it brings so much release of tension and fatigue. ... Metaphorically ... Reversing oneself from fixed ideas or illusions ! Take a step back to reflect on past mistakes to gain a clearer, clarified path ahead. Ever hear the phrase “ In order to move forward sometimes we need to take a step back “! .... That can really help to heal old wounds that may have not healed itself 100% ! .... Spiritually / Mythology.... this pose is named after the Hindu God Shiva (Virabhadra)... When Shiva released one of his dreadlock hair strands and threw it down to Earth, Virabhadra was created! .... He was born to be a fierce warrior and slay King Daksha. However... after all the slaying Shiva is pulled from anger to complete compassion for King Daksha. This King was Shiva’s beloved Sati’s father ... from rage came violence... which then turned to compassion and a peaceful outcome. The moral of the story is when we feel rage overcoming us.. take a moment to breath, take a step back, retreat....pause .... then respond rather than react. Not easy during these times and will not get any easier anytime soon. That’s the benefit of doing yoga. It teaches us so much more of ourselves and our potential to really charge ahead rather than staying in the doldrum of situations and beliefs! Let the yoga metaphors really come into play for us.. physically and mentally.
