⏳I love looking back at old photos and being able to compare and see the progress I’ve made. It’s incredible how much your body changes when you put in the time and effort, and make it a habit to live a healthier lifestyle.

A few thoughts on Thanksgiving… I often am asked how I deal with food choices at holiday meals/parties. This is simply my own experience: I enjoy the food at these gatherings. I don’t restrict myself or put categories of food “off limits.” It’s one meal, one day, and I savor it.
However, I do have a few things I do to keep the indulgence from being too extreme.
1. I fill about ½ my plate with protein, tomorrow it will be ham and turkey!
2. There is usually some type of salad/green/veggie, and I have a bowl of that.
3. When selecting carbohydrate sides for the rest of my plate, I choose things I really love and skip the things that don’t mean much to me. Corn pudding? Yes please! Store-bought rolls? I’ll pass.
4. I eat food and skip caloric beverages.
5. If I go back for seconds, again, at least half of what I take is protein/fat.
And yes, I enjoy dessert, like this pie I made from scratch in the tradition of my grandmothers ❤

I've spent a year pushing my limits, trying out different approaches to nutrition and training styles with a not too shabby result. Never satisfied and always pushing for more it's been a roller coaster of a journey trying to put some size on and stay lean. The hardest thing for me has been mindset, my connection to food needed rewiring, realising I am way more capable than I give myself credit for and finally realising my age wasn't a barrier (I'm 42)
Time to stop, draw a line in the sand and smash this way outta the ballpark. After some encouragement I decided to compete next year and find a coach to do this right. Even after a few weeks I'm so grateful 🙏 to my coach @mark.hummel to have my back. The nutrition is so damn easy and the training is so damn painful 😂😂 I couldn't have wished for more. A huge thanks to @madmaxx345 👊 for the recommendation

Rolled out of bed and into the gym for a fasted pull sesh. 435lbs/197.5kg for 3x1 followed by 315lbs/143kg for 3x10. Also running 20 miles a week rn prepping for the @lrmarathon. Lets work!! #lrmarathon2018
