At Lake Macquarie.
We parked up at Speers Point Playground where there was heaps of apparatus for the girls to keep themselves busy. We found a nice picnic spot where we enjoyed our cucumber cheese sandwiches and grapes (the British in us) overlooking the expansive Lake.
There’s lots to see and do around Lake Macquarie but for us this was a natural stopover en route to Hunter Valley. A great place for kids.
Santa Teresa, we love you and your dusty road !!! 😝 Santa Teresa is a fab little surf town on the East Coast of Costa Rica (with lots more than just surfing too!). It’s a beautiful and long white sandy beach, so despite the town being pretty busy, we always found a quiet spot at the beach. This place is no longer an undiscovered surfers paradise ... still a paradise though. Jungle borders the beach and the road puts a lot of people off I imagine. I was in heaven, between the gorgeous beach, the eco-friendly vibe, lots of healthy and / or organic food options (my fave being Zwart Cafe @zwartart, I think I was too busy eating to get any pics of their amazing food & art 🙌), yoga everywhere 🧘♀️ and lots of darling little shops .... We will be back !!! We did nearly a week right in the town and a week at Playa Hermosa, a few mins drive from the town and another breathtaking beach 🙌 #travelmadfam
Day 23 // We visited Saguaro National Park this morning. The Saguaro Cactus, found exclusively in the Sonoran Desert, is the largest in the US and the second largest in the world. With the right growing conditions, they can have a lifespan of 150-200 years and grow to be 40-60ft tall! We hiked, did a scavenger hunt, and the kids completed tasks to be sworn in as Junior Rangers and earned super-official ranger badges.
Happy wine Friday! This evening mine's a Chilean red we got in a Christmas hamper. I know. I still have Christmas wine. My red of preference is an Argentinean Malbec but I'm not complaining, it'll do. So... Any nice plans for the weekend? We're thinking something with animals as my 2 year old has been asking to go to the zoo every day. Our animal adventure two weeks ago was to Tring Museum. Weird. Free. Lots of dead animals behind glass - pretty much sums it up. Link in bio or on home page of miltonkeyneskids.com if it's freezing this weekend and you want somewhere to go that isn't soft play hell. It's only open on Sundays for a few hours in the afternoon FYI.
А мы переживали...🙈🙈🙈
When in Cuba... So originally I booked another horseback riding tour, but the guy who was supposed to take us just dropped us at a tobacco farm somewhere in the Valley of Viñales 🌱 A tobacco worker came and wanted to show us how cigars are made, but then my mom, who actually had to do child labour at a tobacco farm at the age of 5 or 6 after World War II in Germany, started to show him how she did it 67 years ago and the guy could not believe it 😂 And I smoked the cigar in the end (well, at least I tried) 😜 I know, bad example for my daughter, blah blah, but no worries 😉
