I really enjoyed going through the #EverydayBlack exhibit at @naamnw with my children. This particular piece by @jessicarycheal spoke to my daughter on a spiritual level. 😂 She saw it and said “ooo I like this one!” Then she stood on her tip toes, leaned close and said “What’s the shirt say?” After I told her she said “Love it! This one’s my favorite.”😏
It always strikes me as kind of funny that the popular lecture for people my age is on the importance of taking time out of our fast-paced lifestyles to slow down and breathe.
Folks, look at where I live. I don't need any reminders.
In our book, this whole weekend is dedicated to women — to our strength, our voice, and just our all around awesomeness. And to celebrate that, a group of 7 gals are headed to find a pretty kiss ass waterfall that's been on our bucket list. 👯#womensmarch2018#powertothepolls pc: @emberg33
Double tap if you’re guilty of believing this myth sometimes! 👋🏻 I read this quote and was like, oh hello there Shauna Niequist, looks like you’ve got my number.
Here’s the beauty of this quote as I see it: the truth is we all have those days when we wish we were someone else or want to be a better version of ourselves- I know I definitely do. Giving yourself the freedom to be who you uniquely are is truly what will make an impact in this world and on other people’s lives for the better. Once we comfortably settle into our identity we are better equipped to communicate out of the truth of who we are and are free to connect with others in a genuine way- not out of a sense of obligation or by striving to be somebody we aren’t.
Seeing that in action has this lifetime perfectionist thinking maybe, just maybe, connection is better than perfection. Happy weekend friend!
Spending the weekend with family (literally everyone on my mom’s side) and while I’m happy to see everyone, I’m going to miss the snow and mountains. Being divided about where my heart lies is not foreign to me. I try very hard to enjoy where I am and to remain mindful and in the moment but I often cannot help day dreaming about craggy peaks, snow-covered trees, and raging rivers. No matter what I am doing, I miss the wildness of nature around me. There is a quote that I don’t much feel like looking up but it goes something like this; you will never feel at home again because your heart belongs in many places. It took me a long time to truly understand this. That perhaps home isn’t a place or a single destination. Home is in the journey, in movement. Home can be in many things and that’s okay.
Oh my love! You’re a day older and I hope you have all the margaritas and bean and cheese nachos to fill your dreams! I can’t tell you how much your friendship has meant- everyone needs someone to go out for a drink with, but what I valued the most was being a complete goofball in private and public, going on hikes and snowshoes potentially out of your comfort zone and laughing the whole time, and our serious but never sad conversations that helped me get through the ups and downs! I love you. Happy birthday, big eyed beauty. #happybirthday#goofballs#bigbrowneyes#blueeyes#sillyfriends#girlfriends#upperleftusa#pnwlove#outdoorlovers

Let's take a walk alongside our fellow nature beings.
& you tell me how you're REALLY doing.
When was the last interaction with someone where they took the time to really ask you how you are doing & you gave them an honest answer? & when was the last time someone truly listened?
Does anyone else get super introspective & reflective when they approach a “big” birthday? I didn’t really think too much about it when I turned 27, 28 or even 29. 🤷🏻♀️ But I’m in the final countdown to 30 & all I can think about is the past decade! 💕
I’m taking the time to re-evaluate what’s important to me, to think about where I spend my time & who I invest energy into. It’s amazing how much the little stuff really adds up to be big moments, the ones I’ll remember forever. & it’s empowering to realize how excited I am for the turning of this new page- there’s so much more to my book than I ever imagined! ✨💕
