Decided to do a last second meet @irongroundgym with @kiekrich ! I deadlifted 744 on my second attempt and scratched my third. I wouldn’t be in this spot without Kiara pushing me everyday and @getastrongerbody constantly being innovative with the programming. He’s the best coach out there. 
Kiara had a really amazing day and I couldn’t be more proud of her. She was nervous but she came through and had a great meet going 7/9 and taking 1st in her weight class. Great job bubba! ❤️

Soooo if anyone is wondering lol I placed first yesterday at the Central Valley Open🙌🙌 with a 688lb total, weighed in @ 120lb... I'm exactly 16lb away from being an Elite level lifter! I totaled 661lb at my last meet 8 weeks ago #wtf 😄💪 so I'm extra excited about this next training cycle and how much stronger I'll get! It's time to grow grow grow! 
As always I've gotta thank my squad, @bigtommyburns for believing in me and  pushing me to do my best in the gym. This is one reason why recording your sets/reps is important. When I hit this lift it felt like the heaviest rep I’ve ever attempted, so I opted out of my third attempt. Though it it was a grind I still think I could have went for another attempt finally looking back at the video. What are your thoughts? Good call for not taking the third attempt or should have pushed it?

Gold! Again no competition in my class. Really sucks lol, but my focus has always been on improving my own numbers anyway. Looking forward to States in March where I'll be competing in sleeves and will have lots of competition. Hitting my numbers is still the priority, but I'd really like to bring home a medal then too.

Whatever you truly believe becomes the picture of your reality. Its not just about what you say to yourself, but what you truly know in your heart. If you believe that because of your noodle genetics you'll never build big arms, you wont. My mum had bigger arms than me before training, now they're competitive even at an IFBB level. This was because I didnt let the psychological limitation of my sub-par genetics define the development I ultimately achieved. I knew there was a path forwards, I knew I could grow.

Moreover, Im not treating my inefficient leverages and past injuries as an excuse to not build a decent deadlift. Today called for heavy doubles at 252.5kg, but I went beyond that to 260kg. I approached the bar and I just knew I was in complete command. Thanks to some guidance from @wright_performance Im no longer rushing the lockout at the knees and pitching foward, and I am getting my weight back behind the bar as a counter-lever. In my head im tricking myself into thinking about how perfect and easy each rep feels. Im thinking about how each rep is a step towards a higher max, a note in a symphony building to an ecstatic crescendo. I will turn a weakness into a strength. ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖

Congrats to everyone who competed this weekend at the Alaka’i Real Steel Classic II. 
I can’t believe that this will be the last time I’ll be competing here in Hawaii 😭💔 I’ve met so many amazing people through this sport. But to me this is more than just a sport this has brought me a family that I could have never dreamed to have had, especially being so far away from home. 
So thank you to everyone who have put in their time and hard work for this meet. I’ll never forget this day ❤️

Its not ALWAYS sunshine and rainbows. Weights I used to rep out for sets of 6+ I now struggle with, but its all a part of the process. Taking time off for myself and to heal injuries was the best decision I made in this sport, because now I want it more than ever. I was definitely STOKED to get my last attempt because of how much my 2nd sucked ass 😂

I had such a great time in Portland Oregon this weekend, it was great meeting new lifters and seeing old faces. Not to mention how cool it was to have the legend/my coach @gogginsforce as my head judge, as well as another legend @mad_scientist_duffin as a side judge.😎

•Holy shit I actually went through with this! This was such an amazing day filled with so many emotions. It felt incredible to be around so many strong ass women and watch them lift some heavy weight. Every single one of them inspired me to continue on with this fitness journey, train hard, and GROW. •Went 2/3 on squats and hit a low bar PR of 62.5kg (137.8#). I think we used a 25kg squat bar for this lift. I probably should’ve practiced low bar technique more.
•On bench I went 2/3 and hit a small PR of 30kg (66#). I really need to work on leg drive because it was not happening.
•Deadlifts were surprisingly easy! I went 3/3 and I finally made it into to the 200 club with a PR of 92.5kg (203.9#). The last couple of deadlift workouts before this meet went terribly so I wasn’t confident going in, but wow. It felt like an empty bar.
• Going 7/9 and hitting PRs on all lifts felt pretty good. Hitting that last deadlift was the highlight of the day and I may or may not have cried after. I’m debating doing another meet in March. If I do I wanna have this post to look back on and see where I started and how much improvement I’ve made. And I especially wanna see if I still look like a string bean in my singlet 😂

MEET RECAP: My three best lifts from the Indiana State Championship meet in Huntington, Indiana. 
Squat: 102.5 kg / 226# (11 lb PR) 
Bench press: 62.5kg / 137# (2 lb PR) 
Deadlift: 122.5kg / 270# (roughly a 20 lb lifetime PR) 
I went 9 for 9, with 27 white lights (HELL YEAH!!!) I have had a chance to process the experience and I’m still just elated. I’m so effing happy. Yesterday was hands-down one of the best days in my life, and that sounds so cheesy but it was truly an amazing day for me. Borderline life-altering. 
Watching these videos I’m happy with my form, especially on bench. Staying tight and not losing that tightness is something I’ve had to really work on, so I’m very happy with how pretty my bench form looked. Squat was pretty good, and it felt heavy, but watching bar speed I think I could’ve gone heavier. Next time! 
On DL my hips shot up a little too fast which is forever something I am working on but for a 20# lifetime PR I don’t think my form was terrible either. It could’ve, and definitely has been, worse. So I’ll take it. 300 I’m coming for you!!!! Yesterday was amazing. Thank you @jaypneal for coaching me, for kicking my ass into shape, for making me do damn abs / positional breathing exercises that I love so much (ha), for letting me freak out a little and patiently reminding me to stay the course, and for letting me ask questions and for explaining things to me as a coach and as a mentor. Yesterday wouldn’t have been so awesome without your help. Sincerest thanks.

👆2nd.  3👉 350+ felt light but got my FIRST RED LIGHTS ON DEPTH this meet. I knew it too as soon as I felt myself going up. I think I was paranoid & trying to prevent the last 2 times with this weight, too deep that I gave up tension at the bottom. Sef said it was embarrasing that I didnt hit depth. And it is, but oh well it happened, I admit it, and it sure as hell wont happen again. Well, my first meet is in the books. It was one of the satisfying things I have ever done. I met a lot of amazing lifters and learned so much. Coming off an Injured groin I was still able to pull off a 325 squat, 253 bench, and a 540 deadlift. I will definatly be doing this again. Huge shout out to @kogymca for putting on an amazing event. And an even bigger shout out to @royg_animal for being the best coach I could ask for. .

Instead, ending the day with a 1582 total (which I’m totally happy with, for now). So today was 💩. Energy was literally nonexistent! I gutted through it though. My max axle Clean is 340# couldn’t even clean 300# felt no power in my hips. Finished with 270# then Axle cleans 5*5 @ 160#, then Beltless 2 sec pause deadlifts (below the knee) 5*5 @420#. First time using a squat bar or comp bench since probably my meet in July. 4x3 220 squats felt amazing. Look so nice and probably the fastest I’ve ever been at squatting. 4x2 bench at 125. Felt very weird at first since I’ve been using a bench at school and flat shoes. So it took me a while to get the hang of it and settle in. But these last sets shown felt good. Ready for this semester to be over so I can focus on meet prep and puppy cuddles. #paynterperiodization
