A late #fridayintroductions for you:
Alex and I met as camp counselors at a youth summer camp in June 2010. We had a weird introduction. Literally minutes into our arrival to the camp, students started saying how we needed to meet and get married. Then our mutual friend’s dad decided to announce in the megaphone “Alex Edmon! Your future wife is up here helping! Come meet her!” Awkward, and we hadn’t even met yet and that was the first time I heard his name. Once we did meet, it was obviously a little weird and we avoided eye contact as he helped me unload a food trailer. Besides, I was talking to someone else as well as just gotten out of a relationship. I was trying to not be interested in the cute tall guy in board shorts and baseball cap. Then I found out he was a police officer and pretty much instantly wrote him off as a possibility. Short story shorter, he wouldn’t leave me alone all week, convinced me to hang out with him every day the next week after camp, and I think we were officially dating the week after. Aaaannddd 6 weeks later we were engaged and 6 months later married. 🙃 | photo: @whitportraits
this is an old(ish) painting and i put the words “if you’re not angry you’re not listening” to honor the 2nd annual women’s march tomorrow. everyone should be concerned with the issues concerning the reason why we march. we march for freedom. we march for respect. we march for recognition. we march to support those who have been hurt. we march for the future generation of women-our daughters, nieces, etc-to live in a truly equal society. this is more than a protest against trump. this is everyone coming together to use our voices and say that enough is enough. the lives of women aren’t toys to be played with and our rights aren’t jokes to laugh at. if you can’t join the march tomorrow, please take just 5 minutes out of your day to research the walk and the issues concerning it. i am every woman and i will be one with them.
