Day 65 of #108daysofyoga ::: Thank you. Thank you so much for the overwhelming response in support of my last post. It means the world to be seen and to feel heard; it’s everything really. I am surrounded by such incredible human beings and I’m so grateful. Today was just what I needed - an amazing Align & Flow + Restorative with @ramsaywing before teaching my evening class. With some recent pain I’ve been experiencing, pigeon pose was just the medicine the doctor ordered. Ramsay, thank you for joining me in class tonight. Guiding you was such an honor. After class, I had the gift of receiving a massage from my sweet sister, @devinewill 🙏🏽 She has healing hands, let me tell you! My lower back is feeling better already. After this last pigeon (with a flipped perspective), I’m off to float away into a surely blissful rest on the biomat. I can’t wait to be horizontal. 🌙 You are seen, you are heard and you are loved. Goodnight.

Tonight's poetry selection is from W. H. Auden, and it seems really fitting with all that's going on in the world right now: "There is no such thing as the State
And no one exists alone;
Hunger allows no choice
To the citizen or the police;
We must love one another or die."
“ There are stars you
and loves you haven't loved
there's light you haven't felt
and sunrises yet to dawn
there are dreams
you haven't dreamt
and days you haven't lived
and nights you won't forget
and flowers yet to grow
and there is more to you
that you have yet to

Last week before class we played with names for the last Monday class before Christmas (and of the year!!) Some that were thrown around were “Jess’ Jolly Yoga” or “HO HO Slow Flow” 🎅🏻🤶🏻 I’m digging these names but call it what you like, it will still be a nourishing class to end your yoga Mondays for the year with. The public challenge I extended to myself was to simply inject just enough playfulness during this silly season and rename as many poses as I can with the Christmas theme. What you see here is the easiest adaptation - ‘Christmas Tree’ pose 🎄, and the second pic being what I’ll call ‘Crouching Elf’ pose. I’m not going to lie, that’s all I’ve got so far 😝🙊 time to get creative!
See you at @beingyoga Maroochydore at 5.30pm (no 4pm class today) and see what else it is that I come up with 🤷🏻♀️😄❤️💚 #yoga#yogateacher#yogaclass#christmas#christmasyoga#christmastree#christmaself#seatedpigeon#playfulness#sillyseason#yogafun#santahat#yogalove#endofyear#yogaeverydamnday#yogapose
Sound check 🎊About this weekend. One stop 🛑 beach pier. We love to just randomly pull up and start doing Acro. Love you Baby @highonyoga ❤️✅😊always ready and full of love. Happy times my friends. The connection is so real. ❤️❤️❤️💯💯💯😊😊😊
High bird is one of the grandest ways in which Jessie trusts me with her body in acro. Ironically, it’s also the second or third pose @yogawithjessie ever jumped into with me.. before even trying it on my feet! The trust continues to grow as our stability and balance do the same.
Since I picked her up that first time in Mexico, it’s become our goal to fly #highbirdsaroundtheworld in every country we visit!
The art of mindfulness encourages us to let go of the illusion that we are in control by focusing on the present moment. An attractive and accepted concept that many people are implementing into their lives, hoping to experience the many benefits of mindfulness. Being in the moment sounds great, but how would you know you're not so you can bring yourself back? Do you need to practice yoga and meditation in order to be in the moment? Not necessarily. Ellen Langer, a social psychologist and an early pioneer in the study of mindfulness says mindfulness is achievable without meditation or yoga. She defines it as “the simple act of actively noticing things." Here are a few ways to be mindful by Ellen Langer:
1. Notice things around you. For example, name six things you enjoy about your surroundings. Six things you like about the environment you're in.
2. Don't have "worries before their time." We focus so much on future events that may not even occur. We waste so much time and energy on focusing on what may or may not happen that we welcome stress and uneasy feelings into our lives for no reason.
3. Don't worry about meditating. Instead of closing your eyes for 20 mins to focus on your breath while you try to fight all the thoughts that may enter your mind, take a more active and direct approach to address your thoughts. Ask yourself questions like "can positivity be found in the negativity surrounding my thoughts?" "What are the chances of it happening?" Look at all the ways that it might not happen and you may end up finding that the stressor doesn't have to have a negative effect on you. .
Let's begin to witness the dance of life before the show is over. .
I am loving the energy and commitment of our Buti tribe! 🌟 •• Come check out the thrill for yourself on Sunday’s @ 4:30, Monday’s & Wednesday’s @ 7:30 for only $5!••
